Meriden has had many big fires in the past. I remember the Palace Block Fire back in 1958 or was it '59? I remember it burning for days. My Dad, being a Meriden Fireman, wasn't home for 3 days. Upham's dept. store was another one. Also, the Charles Parker building on Hanover street in the 70's. Anyone have any personal stories about these or other fires ?

The Graeber's Pharmacy Building fire hits close to home as I had 2 family members and other friends who had apartments in the block.

Anyone remember the Heritage House fire on Broad st. (across from the churches) ? I think I remember 3 people dying in that one. Horrible !

I am looking for info on the North George street fire in 1945. My mother was the only survivor and her 4 brothers and parents died that night.
