Default What happened ?

Hello...

What has happened to the Film Industry ???

For the longest time there were regular releases of great films going back to Jaws ... Aliens ...Gladiator... Lord of the Rings trilogy .... The Matrix series...
Pirates of the Carribean.... Thwe Kingdom of Heaven. Even the Batman and
the Superman... and Spiderman films had long runs.
Now what do we get ... really weak transformer films, remakes of classics,
nothing of intrest at all ? Only big hits now are for the brain dead... teen
sex / gross out flicks.

Am I alone in this perception ? Has Holloywood's creative minds taken a
vacation. Has 3d replaced quality films ?

Default Looks that way

It appears that either audiences want, or filmmakers think they want, spectacular special effects and action, rather than real stories.

I saw a movie a couple of weeks ago called "Please Give". It had no big-name stars, no special effects, no thrills and spills. It did, however, tell a nice story. It was thought-provoking. It had funny moments, sad moments, characters who were like people most of us probably know, slices of real life.

I think it lasted one week at the theater.

I saw Please Give(I will be reviewing it next, I am way behind with my reviews) about 3 weeks ago. There were 6 people in the theater. 2 people walked out. This is the reason good movies don't get distributed in many theaters, no one goes to see good, thought provoking movies. It is sad.
