Never laugh too loudly or too long,
For soon enough sadness will replace
Your laughter with tears upon your face
And you will wonder how your life went wrong.
But never cry until you have no tears,
Happiness will follow in their wake
To fill your days with sunshine and make
You wonder at the birthplace of your fears.
So when you see your image in the glass,
Whether you see happiness or strife,
The cycle keeps repeating throughout life,
Remember always that this too will pass.
For soon enough sadness will replace
Your laughter with tears upon your face
And you will wonder how your life went wrong.
But never cry until you have no tears,
Happiness will follow in their wake
To fill your days with sunshine and make
You wonder at the birthplace of your fears.
So when you see your image in the glass,
Whether you see happiness or strife,
The cycle keeps repeating throughout life,
Remember always that this too will pass.
