With all of this emphasis on improving rail travel, I hope that they are looking into making it affordable. Either way, a new downtown station should improve that area visually. I like the possible connection to Bradley Airport. We'll see what happens.
I saw that poll about the train improvements. I took trains into NYC for work when I lived in Danbury. It was brutal. I never want to take a train again.
I would rather sit in traffic in my car for hours and hours than to sit on a train for even 1 minute. That's how much I despise trains.
But if they want to improve them for other people, that's fine with me.

Since the 70's ,and the detail of the energy crisis , Using public transportation to save as much energy as possible , I would take a train . Taking a train is good. From a riding standpoint , it saves gas. Such travel spares one of finding a place to park the car especially in a bigger city . And,that is why trains are good Choo ! Choo !

Aw, c'mon ! Know that trains are good and better than before .
However there are usually people on the trains. I enjoy my 35 minutes of alone time during the ride to work.
Top 10 reasons to hate the train in no particular order.
I have to talk to anyone who sits next to me and wants to strike up a conversation. "So! Pretty cold this morning. Man can you believe those Yankees. I mean..." blah blah blah.
I have to put up with people talking loudly on the cell phone. "YEah! Yeah! I'm on the train! I SAID I'M ON THE TRAIN. THE TRAIN!"
I have to keep stopping to pick up more people thus prolonging my ride. "Are we ever going to get there?"
Getting coffee spilled on my by accident because everyone is smashed into the train like sardines SUCKS. "Oh I'm so sorry I ruined your Armani suit. Was that expensive? Sorry..."
I have to worry about being searched because of 9/11 Patriot Act. "Take off your shoes, empty your pockets, pull down your pants..."
The next time a terrorist hits Manhattan just try getting a train out of the city. "You mean I have to walk home?"
Having to say "Damn, train's running late again" or "They're on strike AGAIN!"
Waiting on the Vanderbilt cab line sucks. "Come on people, move it along..."
The seats on the train are as comfortable as a piece of cardboard on cement.
In the summer I get A/C in the car. Grand Central has no A/C.
Trains SUCK!
