Improving schools, improving downtown, community involvement, good people, lots of diversity, etc. Hey, there are tons of good things about this town. Try seeing the glass as half full!

I did a lot of growing up in Meriden and still like going back to it mainly with my bike. You have to go out and experience Meriden to make judgments. I think Baldwins pond is nice as is the Falcon Field work being done as there is a nice crowd at the race track their. Guifridda Park is still a druggie hangout although they repaired the benches for the 100th time and have fished them out of the resevoire (the walking trail is still full of dog doo though "what pride some of its own citizens have").
But here is your challange:
Park at City Park near the old fountain if its still there and walk thru Brookside park to the steps at Broad Street or visa versa. If you see a positive glass half full surroundings, Im all with ya on looking at the bright side.
The last time I went thru Brookside Park last year I got an awful eerie feeling and if its better now, then Meriden may be on the mend.

What do you mean by an eerie feeling? I'm not saying that Meriden is perfect. Yes, it has problems like any other city or town of its economic level and size, but it also has beautiful areas such as Hubbard Park. good people, an improving downtown and lots of potential. With this beautiful fall weather, there is plenty of opportunity to get out and see the positive aspects of Meriden. Enjoy!

Eeeri Utopia.
Garbage and grafitti all over the place. An old torn up couch in the middle of the park probably used for the people who hang out there at nite.
I may make a point to head down Atkins street on my next bike ride to ride thru it. Maybe tonight. I say its time I took my digital camera along.
Hubbard Park is Meridens selling point (popular through out the state), I expect nothing but good care for Hubbard park. Hubbard Park is the sugar coating on the city.
