I got a call this morning at 6am. A deep voiced male was on the line.

Caller: "Hello my name is Joe"

Me half awake: "Joe WHOOOOO!!!!

I postable words.
Caller: "I just woke up and I'm in the act of self gratifying myself" "Are you doing the same."

Me: Silence

Caller: "Well are you"

Me: Silence

Caller: Hangs up

Me: Picks up phone dials *57 and the tried *69 but *69 would not go thru.

Well I just got off with AT&T and they wont do anything until this guy calls me 3 times and I *57 three times. I told the lady then why dont they mention that in the phone book as *57 is then practically useless then.

AT&t: Well we have this package and that package we can sell you to enhance your privacy. By the way we see you don't have caller ID service and we can sell you that for 10$/month. Im getting this hard sales pitch now. I said Im just intrested on prosecuting this person and it appears all AT&T wants is money and so I hung up.

*67 would negate caller ID and I have to pick up as I have relatives out of the country who caller ID never ID'd when I had it.

Im sure the phone company has nothing to do with the call so I buy extra services but just a lesson here:

*57 will only work if the same number calls you 3x what a joke IMO.

Next time he calls Im telling him to call back when he gets a sex change operation and 6 months after hormone therapy.

Im sure if he was a foreigner discussing mideast issues, the authorities would be on top of it.

A few years ago AT&T made my life miserable. I was issued a new phone number. Then after a few days it occurred to me that I was getting significant calls for a local reputable business. I called ATT to let them know something was up. They assured me that all was well. Yes indeed I could keep the number they issued for my in home business. So I had business cards printed... Then just a couple of weeks later the ATT people called me to ask if I wanted to change my number as the local business still wanted this number listed in the phone book. I said "no, thank you very much."
The next call they offered to give me a "desk set" which included a pen a notepad ....I said no thanks. From that point on I was still getting calls for the local business and harassing calls from AT&T. The local business started harrassing me too. This went on for months and the threats got uglier. I called the better business bureau and they said the phone company could not take away my number, but there wasn't much they could do. This continued on for about three months with harassment and hang-up calls. Finally I called and asked the harassment calls to stop or I would take serious action.
The next call I got from an AT& T represenative was to consider taking a
$350.00 credit for my phone use or if I didn't accept the offer they would just take my number. Obviously I accepted and used the $350.00 credit, got a new number and have since refused to to business with AT&T since 1996.:D

I just switched over from Comcast to AT&T Uverse. I thought Comcast was bad until I got Uverse. What a pain this service is. The installer was here for 7 hours. He left my Tivo and DVD players disconnected, and one of my computers didn't have internet access. The DVR has many glitches, and AT&T won't bundle pack their phone service with their cable service.
I suggest people wait a year to allow AT&T to work out the kinks with their new service before switching.

You also have to keep an eye on your ATT bills. They overbilled me 6 straight months in which I had to call them every month to straighten the bill out. Never in my favor and would have took the money had I not complained.

They also renewed my DSL contract in mid term for a whole new year at a much higher rate when I moved saying the switch required a whole new renewal lease on the DSL line at the non-introductory rate (holy cow did I ever get upset an make them go with the original lease after charging me a fee for the switch to new address).

They also charged me $2 for that call trace that did no good and had them reverse those charges as I wasn't about to pay for a servie that did no good.

Here's what they did to me.

I opened an account with them when I purchased my Iphone. Because I purchased the phone in CT, they would not allow me to port over the number which I've had since I lived in Massachusetts, and that I had no intention of losing. So, after being passed around to a few wonderful members of their customer service department, the procedure for restoring my old number to the phone went like this:

1. AT&T would send me a new SIM required for a MA number
2. I would be issued a temporary MA number
3. I would call and port my old MA number to the phone.

After three days with the CT number, I received and installed the new SIM, ported over my MA number, and things were good. I received my first bill, paid it, and did not think any more about the procedure.

Until I received a bill from a collections agency for a deliquent payment to AT&T. http://www.ziplink.net/~ctroiane/pics/smiles/rofl.gif

It seems that they had put a part of my fee on the old (203) number that the phone first had, and forgot to send me the bill. Since it went unpaid, instead of contacting me, they sent it off to Collections despite the fact that I paid my first bill in full and well before it was due. It took them an hour and a half on the phone before they realized their mistake.

In the end, they not only refused to provide me with a written statement saying that the Collections action was due to their error, but actually made me pay the collection fee of $16.xx !!! I have never, ever been so insulted and blindingly infuriated in my life, but I still took the coward's way out - I was so tired of being on the phone at that point at well over two hour's worth of nonsense and worthless idiocy, that I was ready to pay whatever they wanted so I could hang up.

AT&T frankly disgusts me. I really enjoy my Iphone, but it has come at the cost of some self-respect at this point. I stewed over what happened for a few days, knew that I would have to pay the $175 early termination fee for cancelling out of principle, and elected to put it out of my mind as best I could. I guess sometimes you get to dish it out in this world, and sometimes you have to eat it. And in the end it's my fault for not listening to the advice of every last person with whom I spoke to stay as far away from AT&T as possible.

Ugh.

I was just informed by customer service at AT&T Uverse that if you switch your internet service from AT&T to AT&T Uverse that you cannot go back to AT&T without losing your e-mails and e-mail address.
Also in the paper today was an article about how approx 7000 customers who have Uverse, may be losing it by early next year if AT&T loses its appeal to the state supreme court. I should've waited to switch.

I was informed today by a U-Verse technician that the microsoft software on their dvr's is having problems. The dvr's don't record at times, they freeze up at times, they erase recordings during system updates, and right now my dvr is completely useless.
I'm done with U-Verse. Two weeks of hassles is long enough for me.
Hey Comcast! I'm coming back home.

It is now October 2007 and the average time is rumored to be 11 hours. Did you stick with U-verse or did you return to the cable service? Did you consider loss of community access channels when you went ot u-verse?
