SPRING

To Joe and Joan Harrison Ceo and their late dog, Spring
(Violist, Harpist, and Vocalist, respectively)

A musical doggy named Spring
Loved to hear Mrs. Ceo’s harp ring;
But the fiddle Joe played
Made poor Spring so dismayed
That she’d howl and virtually sing!

While howling, she’d lift up her chin,
And the Ceos would often join in.
They’d howl right back,
They developed a knack,
And produced such a horrible din,

That the neighbors would often complain.
They thought that these folks were insane
Until one splendid day,
Last April or May,
When they all brought their dogs and champagne!

Now the whole neighborhood howls!
They wake all the bats and the owls.
The wolves in the hills
Even join in for thrills,
But all cease when a certain dog growls!
