View Full Version : Denial of Justice?

Is hostility toward suspected pedophiles so severe that prosecutors exhibit excessive zeal and defense attorneys don't bother to defend their client? Will juries convict regardless of inconclusive evidence? For persons accused of sex offenses, is it guilty unless proven innocent beyond a reasonable doubt? If so, there is a systematic denial of justice for those charged.

In Geogia it is a crime for a sex offender to be homeless. The penalty can be life in prison.
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/08/03/us/03homeless.html

The Orwellian double speak, that limiting where sex offenders may live is not punishment, has been struck down by Judge Patricia Joyce.

At least in Minnesota a sex offender in prison can't have his sentence increased by refusal to admit to more crimes while in "treatment." But this is pretty standard practice in many other states.

That is likely to be the end result of the increasing number and severity of laws restricting where convicted sex offenders are permitted to live, work or just be.

Soon they may not be able to have any kind of employment.

New Jersey may make it a crime for a sex offender to use the internet thus denying them another form of employment. Florida places a host of restrictions on released sex offenders, including restricted use of the internet.

There is also a proposal to require sex offenders to display a special green registration plate on their cars. Will they be made to wear an emblem on their clothing after that? Does any of this seem familiar?

Children to be banned from going outside. Parents warned not to let children play together out of sight. Better they should all get obese, diabetic and hypertensive from inactivity.

Cloaks and Veils

Because we seem to be terribly concerned that some men are sexually aroused by children, perhaps we should dress all the kids in black cloaks and veils until the age of eighteen.

I don't agree at all with the sex offender list in CT. There is a HUGE difference between a 17 yr-old having consensual sex with his 15 yr-old girlfriend, and a sexual predator. Until the list starts differentiating between the two, I won't automatically assume everyone on the list is dangerous. That said, there are those offenders who are true predators, and should be monitored closely.

I agree we need to establish levels of sex offenses so communities can better spend their time protecting themselves from thereal dangerous ones. You can practically whistle a girl and end up on the list as thats sexual harrasment (although not condoned and I may be making it seem more on the extreme side). The rating should not only be based only the crime but also psychological profile.

We do have degrees of sexual assault but not sexual predator.

For example Class 1 predator dangerous
Class 2
Class 3 etc.
