Whats happening at Guifridda Park!!?

I used to love hiking at the park along the resevoir. Lately the park has become a haven for drug use and partying. I cant help but noticing all the little platic colored drug baggies littering the park along with the trash and beer cans littering the path along the resevoir.

I'm almost afraid to walk in there with groups of people hanging out drinking and what not.

I thought having to step in all the dog doo that dog owners leave behind was the worst thing; but its the lessor of 2 evils now. Not to mention the violations of the lease law.

Come on Meriden take care of one of your last precious resources left.

Get out their patrol the area and hand out fines. There is money to be made if thats what counts to protect the park from ruin.

Within the past year, the City talked of firing the park caretakers; they thought the caretakers had it too good financially. No followup on that story in the paper so I don't know what happened. Could they have been replaced with a cheaper version or sort of on strike seeing the handwriting on the wall?

Its pretty sad that this town has all of its focuses on the wrong things. Council has its own agenda and mayor lives in "la-la" land. A big town like Meriden and there is alwasy ONLY 4 police dispatched per shift.

I hike there almost 3x/week for the past 12 years and have only seen a caretaker in there once ticketing people for the leash law.

Its a nice resourse and whish they would somehow take the initiative and drive the groups of people in there drinking and doing drugs away. The small rest house half way up the trail is also disintergrating to vandasl on a weekly basis.
