View Full Version : I Blame It On The Cabbage Patch

Why do the manufacturers of toys and video games feel they have to create a frenzy at Christmas? I find it very hard to believe they can't produce enough of their product to satisfy the demand in time for the holidays. It's not like they conceived the idea in mid-October and only had enough time to get a limited amount out before Christmas.
I blame Cabbage Patch. Not that they intended their homely little dolls to catch on like wildfire. It just happened. Since then, everyone wants to copy Coleco's success.
It blows my mind when I read about people standing in line for hours and attacking one another over a stupid video game. And don't even get me started about the people who buy these items and then re-sell them at triple their original cost. Holiday vultures. That's what they are. Vultures.

I see what you're saying, but no one forced anyone to stand in line or to drive themselves crazy looking for gifts. Unfortunately, many people in society have bought in to the consumer culture that dictates that we buy and give each other useless junk at the end of each year.

I absolutely agree with you. Those people feel so much pressure to deliver the hottest gifts and look like holiday heroes.
I can't stand what the holidays have evolved into. It's a season of greed.

It’s hotter than Hades today and tomorrow is supposed to be hotter yet...
And I only need 1 more gift to complete my Holiday shopping....
And it won’t be a Cabbage Patch Doll!
And FWIW...
Not 1 Item was Made In China! In fact... nearly everything I bought was... Made in New England!
Look around folks... Made in the USA is as close as your backyard...
