These words ...on this day created a great American Legend...
Stonewall Jackson !!!

The Battle of Manassas ( First Bull Run )
Union Casualties - 2,950
Confederate Casualties - 1,750
Thus began the American Civil War
Lincoln's 90 day war begins today... kinda like the one Bush started...

Seeing we're on the subject of the Civil War, here's a thought for us to think about. If the South had won the Civil War, how long would slavery had lasted. I'm sure by now it would have been abolished, but when. Let's hear your thoughts.

Hello...
Slavery had already been abolished in England and was taking that direction
here. There was no importation of slaves taking place prior to the War ( by
law ) and the issue should have been not when but how ? The abrupt end to
the war was not good for the blacks as they were "free " but no longer part
of the work force. Uneducated and cut loose. Had there been a "program " to
ease them into society the ills of the next 100 years would have been lessened. Lincoln may have " freed " them but never considered what to do
with them after that. There was talk about creating their own " Country " but
that idea fell flat.
Yes, Slavery would have ended. In the North as well as the south. The
slave states were defined by Constution and although that did not stop
the south from, it was the right direction for that time.
