at 10:30 last night!
And all I can say is, "Thank god for the internet."
I got immediately online, googled "skunk smell on dogs" and I found out what to do.
Several sites recommended the following:
1 quart 3% hydrogen peroxide
1/4 c. baking soda
2 tsp. dishwashing liquid.
(Mix together and work the fizzing solution into the dogs skin, being careful of eyes, nose and mouth. Don't store the solution or put it in a closed container.)
My husband ran to Stop & Shop, got the peroxide, I got the bucket, towels and hose ready.
By midnight, that 120 pound black lab was scrubbed down and clean. We think he no longer smells - though we may be acclimated to it at this point. In fact, I may be walking around work today smelling like skunk. I wouldn't know.
