With the announcement of James Vumbaco running for mayor of Wallingford it almost guarantees another two years of Dickinson. With Lucille Trzcinski running on the independent ticket and James Vumbaco running on the democratic ticket, the two candidates will split enough votes to allow Dickinson to gain the majority vote. I don't have anything against either candidate, but I want Dickinson OUT. He has been in office for far too long. Dickinson has the senior vote locked up and many other supporters but opposition to his position is growing. We need one strong candidate to run against him in order to have a chance of defeating him in the next election.

Ah.........
The question is.....
Which one did he pay to enter the race....lol
I agree though, he wins against a split ticket.
Could be worse though... at least Dickerson's smile isn't perminant
as is the case here in Meriden. You got the " actor"...we got the Joker.
sad.

As predicted, Dickinson won again. He had more votes than the other two candidates combined. Until the mayor does something to tick off the seniors in this town, he'll keep winning every election. Either that or the Democrats finally find a worthy opponent.

Mayor Dickinson is everywhere. If you have a cause in Wallingford he seems to get behind it. I was a resident of Wallingford for a year before moving to Meriden and I had the opportunity to meet and speak with the Mayor on several occasions. In general he seems like a nice person who does not come across as overly political in his words. Whenever I would see the Mayor at an engagement of some sort he would come prepared with a speech that was written specificly to the event no matter how many people were anticipated to be in attendance.
The split ticket did seem to help but my gut feeling is that he would have won the election in a one to one race anyway. The mayor is pretty approachable and I wish him the best of luck on this next term as mayor.

I agree with you that Dickinson is excellent at attending various functions. I've also spoken to him and he is approachable and a nice person.
What I dislike is that he is like too much like the way our country acts which is reactionary. He waits until something has to be done before he reacts rather than be pro-active and respond sooner. Spending money is a good example. He waits until the last possible moment to do things, when if he had done them sooner, it would've cost less. Many examples have been in this paper, but I don't feel like writing a book.
Anybody else care to list an example of Dickinsons slow response to an issue that resulted in more cost?
