Not to pick on anyone, but did we need to see half of the front page on Monday 7/16/07 be about someone that likes the swings at an amusement park? Shouldn't that have been for the local section? I understand the RJ wants to be distinct from other papers but half the page? Wasn't there something more important to report? Usually the Sunday paper is loaded with front page local news. I know it's nice to read about something other than death and destruction, which is where we are in this world now, but put it in the local section.

why can't good news be appreciated on the front page? who cares if it should have been local? lilo is s stupid comic, but does it belong in the classifieds? and if it does, who cares?

Unfortunately, there's only so much room on each day's front page, and it's always a struggle to balance news with items which might grab our interest. It's turf to be shared and reminds us, at the same time, of the character and nature of the place where we work and call "home."

I think the story about the man on a swing was beautiful in that it showed that even with a difficult life we can find something good.
This most certainly should be on the front page on a sunday morning.
We can wait for page three to read all the bad news of this crazy world.

The writer above points out the silver lining in the cloud of news. Sometimes people enjoy seeing something positive (something very "human") going on in every-day life on the front page -- the notion, perhaps, is that today's inevitable "bad news" doesn't always have to dominate those smaller pockets of descriptive commentary that add spice to daily living. What do you think?
