or just plain wrong ?
It's within the rights of a company to negotiate Union jobs from the
workforce with outside services ( as the company I work for does
at Cytec with it's janitors ) but...
to negotiate a contract in April securing language to go outside with
it's Security Guards ( Union jobs ) and then in June... " negotiate " with
a Union " Official " .... outside of any formal openings of the collective
agreement to bring into the Plant a Security Company ... one that HE
is current employed by (part time ) is just plain wrong.
Especially if the " union member " an elected official by the membership
recieves any financial gain from this act. Like ..Payola... the old term
for paying under the table for...services, this whole scam has the
appearance of a secret agreement between the " union" and Management.
I'm tempted to write a letter to the Connecticut State Labor board and
see if this " deal" is in fact legal. At the least, Labor Boad charges could
beconsidered.
Although this is not the first time Union Officials have been prosecuted
legally at Cytec ( Local 436 ) it looks like it won't be the last ?
In any case... I have " vented " and will wait to see what developes
before taking action against the " union " or the Company. A good
Lawyer .. even a fair one could have a field day with these attempts
through Collusion between Cytec and it's sham local.
