I find it hard to believe that someone can park their car in a store parking lot, walk to the store, shop for a half-hour, walk back to their car and then not be able to walk 10 yards to put the shopping cart back in the rack. Please show some consideration for fellow shoppers and the poor fellows who have to retrieve all of the wayward carts.

And if you're one of those who "borrow" a cart to walk home with your groceries,
please return the cart, or why not invest $20 in a cart that you can call your very own.

I agree. Some personal responsibility would be awesome. And rest assured the money that retailers spend to replace damaged or stolen carriages- $175 and up- is ultimately passed along to the consumers. This also applies to the minimum wage increase. The prices are already being adjusted upwards. Heaven forbid the useless executives take home a bit less of a bonus. Merry Christmas and be nice to all the retail service associates who are working hard to keep the stores in stock, make you coffee or fix you food.

I have a 2005 Chevy truck that had no dents in it until I went to one of those box stores. I parked way out in back to avoid getting any dents. It was a windy day and when I came back out there was a shopping cart parked right against the front wheel well. Sure enough there was a dent! These new cars and trucks are made from the same gauge material as soda cans, but for cryin' out loud, put your carts away! If this had happened to you there would be a battery of lawyers trying to find out who was responsible. Maybe it was your cart that you didn't return the last time! The you I refer to is just a general 'you' and not in anyway a reflection on the previous post.

The shopping cart thing is one of those silly things that we all have to deal with that takes something away from all of our quality of life.

If people would just take the time to put the carts away, they might get a few extra steps in their day and get a little exercise! It's not THAT much effort, but today we just want to "get by" with as little effort as possible.

I was shoe shopping one day, and couldn't believe the pairs of shoes that were left in the aisles, because it was too much effort to put them back where they were! Another little bit taken from my quality of life...

This makes me think of the people I see at the Y waiting for a close parking space so they can go in and exercise! There is some sort of disconnect there. Some folks just don't understand that maybe walking a bit further to the gym will add to the exercise that they are seeking!

That's pretty funny! Yeah, people think of exercise as something you "have" to do, and not incorporating it into their way of life. Just the action of walking around the grocery store adds a little bit to your daily amt of activity. When the Price Chopper opened in Southington a while back, I was wandering around in there and saw a red-faced & puffing woman in front of me turn to what I presumed to be her husband behind me and say, "Come on! It must be down one of these aisles - we've walked THIS far, let's not stop now!" It cracked me up for some reason. They must've been exhausted by the time they found whatever food item it was they were looking for! Maybe Price Chopper should give out pedometers to shoppers looking for a few extra steps to add to their day!

Sort of like when you see someone circle all over a parking lot looking for that one "closer" space to the building. I often park in the first space I see which is generally a little ways away from the entrance but I get a little extra exercise walking to the door and I am often all the way in the building while the hawk is still looking around for that "closer" parking spot.

I fully realize there are some folks (medically) that need a closer spot - most of the rest of the others I find are just lazy.

That is not a slight or flame at anyone - that is a simple observation of mine that is correct 90% of the time.

If people would just ...
Just not be so rude on the road with their big Soccer-mom SUVs
Just pay their Car Taxes [ I've seen the statistics at a Tax preparer]
Just be considerate with their Cell-Phones, on the road and in public.
Just don't recycle but leave the deposits out for the Bag- Lady.
Just protest something, like Exxon, Capital Hill,
Illegals' Amnisty. [ maybe even Chaves' Citgo propaganda ]
Oh, and yes, The stupid Bushs' WAR !
Peace,Happiness and good will !
as alwayz, all FLAMEZ welcome:rolleyes:

How many US soldiers died in the whole Mid-East Conflict today? And how many Iraq Human Beings were killed today?
More importantly... How many cars got dented by shopping carts... today?
Wow... the terrorist's REALLY ARE'NT Winning! We worry more about our car's than our sons... daughters... fathers and mothers...
Remember... don't park your car too close to the one next to you...
It may have a nuclear bomb in it...

You are absolutely right...I feel really bad about complaining about such a little silly thing now.

Well, I wouldn't feel too bad about it. I agree that in the grand scheme of things, it isn't on a par with what our troops face in Iraq, but that wasn't the topic. If we decided that we couldn't comment on anything that doesn't approach that kind of standard, it would be pretty quiet in here.

Thanks, I feel better now! I think it's great to have a spot to converse with others on whatever subjects come up, and hope to see this grow by leaps & bounds!:)

maybe if we all got issued shopping carts we would use less plastic bags which in turn would use less oil for the process of making bags. but then if we start using less oil, the price will go up. and if we stop denting cars in parking lots with shopping carts who knows what that may snow ball into and the butterfly effect for pricing will continue...

We should all be given golf carts(Bat. Oper.) and be allowed to ride on the roads. Just think of the employment to build 200,000,000 or so of these carts, and the savings in not using paper or plastic.
But then I would have to buy garbige bags instead of using the ones from the store.?
