What's with the Jake Brakes all over the residential streets in Meriden? We are often awakened by them on Gale Avenue before 6 a.m., and hear them as late as 10 p.m. The truckers (we're talking loaded tractor trailers barreling down residential streets) apply them at the Ceppa parking lot and ROAR down the road to the stop sign at Hall Avenue. The use of Jake Brakes is banned in many other communities.
Speaking of speeders - let's have a contest!- vote for which street has the most and fastest speeders. I know, everyone believes their road has the worst speeding - so do I, so I'll nominate Gale Avenue to start things off!

Forget the speed--when is the city going to insist on a noise barrier along I691? The noise from the trucks hitting the jake brakes is incredible! I was at a friend's house, and thought the truck was coming through the house!! I see noise barriers all along the highway--why not us??

East Main near Black Pond is speedway east as the bikes and cars come off rt66 and slam on their brakes when the see the traffic light.
All the police have to do is sit in my back yard with a radar gun and a decible meter and we could make enough money to fund a dozen more patrol men.

Okay...Chamberlain Highway, for speeders and loud Spanish music...I'd like to forbid the Forbidden Dance from ever being played again.

I want a ban on those fart pipes. Why does one need a 4" exhaust on an economy car? Do really expect me to believe your car is fast? Lucky if any 4 cylinder could develop 500+ HP at just 2000 rpm. Now you back to the muscle car era and that was the norm.
