Hello

At home... at work...out with friends.. I seem to stand alone with
regards to the on going Paris Hilton saga.

I know " crime " must be punished, I saw that with Martha Stewart..
with a lot of people demanding her to to do time... for her " crime "
( Purgery ) involving her stocks. I understood why people became
so passionate in their opinions who prayed for her to be broken and
trashed if only to take some kind of sick pleasure. I equated those
people to the ladies in France that sat in the front row seats before
the Guillotine doing their knitting... as heads fell before them, and their
feet were ankle deep in blood. The same with the crowds that gather
before a hangman's noose before a lynching.

Perhaps if it were Britiny or Lyndsay Loham, I'd be in their camp...
but Paris is IMHO ... different.

She's rich...spolied.... attention driven.... but she's like a 10 year old
that needs a mother for guidance. Her " crime " ...parole violation....
IMHO is sad offence to jail her. I work with repeat drug offenders that
repeatedly get off scott free. Scooter Libby... CONVICTED of Purgery
( Martha's crime ) most likely will never set foot in a jail because people
like Henry Kissinger and Rudy Jiuliani say " he's a nice guy ". Lying to a
Federal Prosecutor by the VP's ( Cheney ) fall guy is now... honorable.

In any case... I stand alone, motivated by a sense of sympathy and
sadness for this girl. Perhaps because she has done me no harm... her
behavior, as a media created celebrity does no injury to me or
threatens myself or my family, or because I take no secret delight in
seeing her suffer ... this is my problem with this story.

It saddens me to see and hear so many people take so much pleasure
in seeing somebody they don't even know... suffer.

On the other hand... if there IS a Heaven... I take comfort in knowing
that all of those people will NOT be spending eternity with me.

So if someone believes that Paris Hilton should serve her sentence, that person will not go to heaven, but you will? Interesting perspective there...

Hello...

Ok, I think I may have overstated my point a bit. I was trying to
put the overwhelming "opinions" of those that take enjoyment with
the suffering of of this " not very bright" girl with people who are
mean spirited "by nature".

I think in a "biblical" sense, wishing someone pain and suffering is
not very christian. True, the law dictates her predicament but..
as was the case with Martha Stewart, the Tabloid mentality of
watching someone suffer and ENJOY it... as entertainment...that's
just sad....and not consistent with the teachings of Jesus.

I think the biblical references to Paris Hilton are in the very new testament.

But I agree, relishing someone's suffering isn't right or "Christian" (whatever that means these days). Who knows? Maybe ths will be a turning point in her life and she'll be the next Mother Theresa? Maybe not....:)
