It might not have been the 'coolest' car ever built, but as a 'date' car it was tough to beat!
1958 Buick Super!
364 cubic inches, 300 h.p. of rolling Detroit iron!
With the front seat all the way back, you could still stretch you legs out and not touch the seat!
It had a hood almost long enough to land a small plane on it!
It had four cigarette lighters, but no A/C. Roll the windows down if they got fogged up:eek: ! And yes, they did get fogged up on many an occasion!
It had to run on Premium gasoline, but at less than a half a buck a gallon, you got your friends to ante up and fill the tank! Probably had a whirlpool in the gas tank when you stomped on the gas and you could burn rubber!
This thing had more chrome on it than today's cars have metal. Don't remember much plastic on this beast!
Took it to the Cape one time and decided to drive it onto the beach!
Not a good idea! Got stuck and some guy with a Jeep got my sorry butt back to the road!
But as far as a 'date' car goes, it was like the Queen Mary for comfort.
Ah, the good ole days!
That was over 40 years ago and I still have fond memories of the "Bronze Beast"!:)
