The big article in the RJ this AM was about Choate kids at the cross walk.
Just drive around Meriden and watch people crossing in the middle of the street, stepping out into moving traffic, not looking to see if a car might be comming, etc.
No one uses a crosswalk any more, they just cross where ever they are.
While I would never challange a two ton auto, it doesn't seem to phase any one else.
So keep your eyes open and one foot on the brake pedal as jay walking is the norm.
