View Full Version : Un Safe Intersection (Centenial & West Main)

Every day I watch the buses carrying school children coming from the West on West Main St. try to negotiate the turn on to Centennial Avenue next to CVS & Dunkin Donuts and wonder how such a dangerous narrow turn can not be modified and widened by cutting back on the CVS property. Am I the only parent concerned for the safety of children on buses that transport our most precious cargo to Lincoln, Platt & Wilcox. With all the recommendations and conditions we place on new commercial projects that are proposed to the City I think this one was overlooked.
This is not to say that our Planning Dept. is at fault; we are fortunate to have a very experienced and uncompromising Director, but I think a small shaving away of the intersection can protect and eliminate a future accident that could be avoided by an ounce of prevention.
Thanks for letting me get this off my chest. Tony Paguni

Meriden is full of unsafe intersections; sidewalks that suddenly end for no reason, and sidewalks that are dangerously close to the road. One of the scariest places to walk is on Baldwin Avenue. The cars come by at 40 mph, and there is no shoulder or curb. I fear that there will be a tragedy there some day.
