 I just read a couple of my rants, and found that certain groups of letters had been bleeped. Why the "word police"? Certain combinations of letters conjur up evil associations in the mind of somebody at the RJ. I bet Daniel Webster never envisioned his dictionary as containing so much potential smut.

Come on! Do you honestly think Record-Journal is going to take apart every word looking for offensive letter combinations? The "word police" you refer to is probably something built into the system they use for these forums. After all, they have a section of their paper with those same three letters.....

I too find it hard to believe that the RJ would police any word combination... I have come across other forums that use a system that searches for certain words and "hides" or "astericks" them to help and keep forum sites as clean as possible...

do some words fall victim to this, yes. but I would rather see a clean site then coming across anything that I would not my child to read.

Looks like one of the administrators is working to get this issue addressed so the posted replies that are actually proper in nature but that were being negatively affected by the auto-monitoring are fixed.

The best part is that they did this in an effort to try to minimize the lists of words that might offend someone and they were fully aware of of the problem and were really receptive to figure out ways to address it.

All positives IMHO.

It's my fault - I was a bit too aggressive with the word filter in an effort to make sure this place did not offend the casual reader, and make for an experience that would not prompt a return. As with the original poster, I will try and restore legibility to the majority of the affected posts.

We really appreciate your patience whlie we hammer out the forum kinks.
