The best suggestion that I could make is to review his blog (http://www.sullivanoneonone.blogspot.com/).
His postings and comments are probably the best representation of what his positions are and where he stands.
I can't say it any better than they way he says it himself.

I have decided the time is right to seek my party's nomination for Town Council.
What party? Usually when someone wont reveal what party they are, they're Republican, but I don't want to make assumptions.
Whatever party, welcome aboard. New blood and new ideas are always welcome.
But if he want's to run in Wallingford. he's gonna have to ditch the email address. As Norm Coleman said, he might be trying to control the "ethernet."

I have followed John for many years. I first became acquainted with him when he ran a political talk show on the Wallingford Cable channel. Despite being a Democrat, he was objective, and invited guests from both Parties to particpate in the program, always keeping an open mind and treating everyone with courtesy. He continued to remain involved in the political scene after he decided not to continue the cable show. He obviously would be an effective advocate for municipal use of the Internet and e-mail. John is an intelligent, articulate, and charismatic person, and I believe that he would be a welcome addition to a Town Council too populated with brain-dead and "Who cares?" political hacks. I may not agree with all of his stands; but I would definitely support his candidacy for the Town Council.

There's an additional story on this in today's paper (Friday the 12th).
It's titled "Newcomer joins Democrats’ Town Council slate - Republican Town Committee endorses 5 school board candidates"
I looked online at MyRecordJournal.com and couldn't find it online to post directly from it.
It's a good read and it also includes some information regarding some of the efforts that the Republican Town Committee is making to get their slate filled.

Other than being a buddy of the extremely liberal minded Ralph Tomaselli, and hosting his own radio show, what makes him qualified to be elected to the council? Just because someone can buy radio equipment and had the Record Journal in their pocket is no way to select a candidate. But, then agasin, maybe he will have a better attendance record than that DiNatale fellow...

The only "qualification" you need to run for office is to convince enough voters that you would do a good job in the office you run for. A dead guy beat John Ashcroft for the Missouri Senate seat in 2000, so you dont even have to be alive. (I'm not sure if this proves people prefer dead democrats to live republicans.)
Let the guy run, and let the voters decide. A diverse gene pool is a healthy gene pool. Same for politics.
