"Reaping" is the thinking person's horror movie. If you're looking for a blood gushing, slasher oriented, gore fest with a plot as thin as a super model that hits you over the head with violence for violence sake, this is not the movie for you. Instead, this the story unfolds before you. The main character, played by Hilary Swank, is a professor that investigates and attempts to disprove thru scientific methods, miraculous occurrences. She is asked to look into incidents that mimic the Old Testament plagues taking place in the small, backwoods town of Haven. A 12 year old girl is being blamed and her life is in danger. Evidence builds, you are are part of the investigation. Is everything what is seems to be? There are enough plot twists to do a pretzel proud. The jump in your seat scary moments that keep the adrenaline flowing are few and far between - it's the story that is more important. This movie will keep you guessing and you will talk about it long after you leave the theater. If you like Alfred Hitchcock, go along for this ride!
