Hello...

They shut down the Red Cross in Wallingford... came in and ( for a
lack of a better word ) fired the people working there after years
of service and dedication.

Guess the MONEY brought into the Wallingford Branch is needed more
in the city of New Haven.

Now like the story about killing the Golden Goose... the thousands of
dollars every year that were donated to these blessed employees, in
your town... to help your neighbors... is lost forever.

Not much else to say. :(

Too bad you people don't have a politician with a need to step in and
save this social service... even if for his own personal gain ?

Interesting point. I wonder if the beloved mayor or one of the town councilors made any attempt to intervene and save the local chapter. Many valuable services will be lost to both Wallingford and Meriden. Another blow to the "quality of life" in our communities.

I guess the national red Cross is more interested in providing "welfare" to those people down south who choose to live in hurricane zones or tornado alleys.

Hello...

I'm not sure but I don't recall seeing this issue in the RJ ?

In any case, we agree on this.... to let people go like that after a
lifetime service of community aid... the sign of the times. Lack of
any resemblance of respect.

I thought the cold ...heartless... means of doing buisness was only
in a workplace like mine.... guess even community aid groups have
people on the top without any feelings.

In any case...

An offer of a meeting... and a " few rounds of golf " was made to the
head of a Wallingford group that donates HEAVILY to the Red Cross
each year...... and rejected.

" No donations for you ... " { Soup Nazi accent needed }

That was really...REALLY good to hear.

Somebody else will benifit ....but NOT them.

Ok....

I retract the part about RJ's coverage. I did say " I didn't recall " where I
should have said that I didn't see. My error. ;)

The rest... I stand by what I said..

Actually.... when you think about it... they shut down a money making,
viable source of relief to grab it's funds..... lol

Ok... so who looses.... the Wallingford area... the workers.... and the
biggest loosers... the Red Cross itself. They will not see much of the
money brought in by area donations... if any. Funny how greedy people
wind up in the end screwing up a good thing.

Hello...

OK... I saw the article today ....nice job.

Guess I won't be seeing sign's along Main Steet saying SAVE OUR RED CROSS
anytime soon?

One quick Question... has your Mayor made a statement about this or
is he sooooooo entrenched.... and in a comfortable position in the polls
that he can duck throwing his weight in support of those people who have
been forced to retire ?

OK... this is my last on this subject.
