While the Wallingford BOE has been whining and moaning about cuts to its budget requests every year, the new Principal at Yalesville School seems to have found the money to buy new furniture for himself and his staff at the cost of thousands of dollars. (It is worth remembering that the furniture being replaced was new when Yalesville School was reopened, and was perfectly functional.) Even some of the beneficiaries of this largesse were upset, indicating that the furniture they had was fine and that the money could be been used far more effectively for the kids. It seems that the BOE was going to end up the year with a surplus, and apparently told people in the system to spend the money before year-end so that the BOE would not have to return it to the town. What a waste!!!
Will you see anything about this in the R-J? Not likely; or at least not as long as a certain R-J senior executive (who happens to live in Wallingford) has strong ties to the WEA and the Wallingford BOE...
