grow some b*lls.....when are the dem's going to move this town to a leaner meaner town.....why are the dem's following the pattern of the way dems's are looked at..spend spend spend....it time that the dem party relook at what this town needs and what this town needs is to cut spending....start at town hall and finish with the board of ed.....when i see 5 town vehicles picking up broken curb, something needs to change....we have a town electric division...for what...its in name only, they produce nothing...they have no plan for this town that i have heard of for reduced energy dependence on outside sources.. so whats the point...to raise revenue?....time for the dem's in charge to take charge....stop being sheep....

You raise some good points. But before there can be real change, there must first be a recognition that change is needed, followed by a commitment to real and meaningful change. The lack of imagination in this town is clearly demonstrated by the current Charter Revision Commission, the majority of whose members were appointed by the Democrats. Foregoing the opportunity to address the fundamental structure of government and acting as an agent of true change in how governance is executed in our community, the Commission instead chose to futher political agendas and fine-tune minutiae in the Charter. This is reflective of the local political mentality in both parties. Restructuring our local government, and pursuing regionalization of services where it makes sense, could provide cost-effective alternatives and generate significant savings for the taxpayers. And, as you note, departments throughout Wallingford are top-heavy with managers who add little values to the processes. But as long as the public is complacent, our "leaders" will continue to stick with the "same old, same old"; and it doesn't matter which party is in power. Those who have run for office in the past and would have been likely to "rock the boat" have typically been sabotaged by their own parties; given that at one point the Chairpersons of both parties worked for the same real estate agency, one can guess where the priorities of the leadership of both parties lie...

Hello...
As an outsider ( from Meriden ) I wonder, with Choate as the economic
base for the town ( not a bad thing mind you ) does the wealth and the
"perception" of wealth insure Republican " dominion " over the town ?
I doubt that I will ever live to see a Democrat Mayor as long as Choate
is it's economic cornerstone.... and as long as the current Mayor pleases
the majority of registered voters ( Republicans )

in todays record an article about how the council voted down a request for the electric division to add a position....who voted it down the republicans and one lone democrat....lucky for us town people that some of the dems were absent.....another example of why we need a major overhaul of our local government......and the idea of the electric division asking for a position durning these times just show the lack of judgement by the managers of this division along with the three members of the puc board....another what were they thinking moment....and why is the mayor waiting for the new budget to lay off....the article states that negotations weren;t going well...what to wait for.....start right now and show who is in charge.....this should be lead by the dems of the town council....but they have no b*lls....well maybe one might....not the chairman.....

after reading the two articles in todays record journal i think its time for the mayor and the council to get together and start the lay off process now....i would start with the teachers union progress to the fire union and keep rolling across every town department....another place to start is the tax collectors office....last time i was in there i noticed 9 people in that office....appeared to be a little overstaffed....assessors office looked a little overstaffed....town clerk office the same....if the unions are not willing for wage freezes at this time then start the lay offs....and start now.....time for the mayor and the council to grow them B*LLS.....
