Two students arrested for cocaine, another two for drinking in the parking lot at a student dance.

Are these isolated incidents or is there a real problem with drugs as well as alcohol?

What, if anything, can the schools be doing?

Sounds like a normal day at any high school in CT. Keep an eye out for heroin as well.

The schools probably can't do much, it's more up to the parents.

Kids were doing so lots drugs even when I went to high school. This is nothing new. Getting high is fun. Kids like having fun. You can't stop them. Right or wrong, they are going to do it. And will do lots of it.

The cocktail set in Cheshire need to stay home and parent these kids. The wealthy kids were the coolest when I was in high school, because they had all the drugs and most of them would share.

I agree. It is the schools responsabilty to teach academics. It's the parents responsability to teach kids about life lessons.

There is lots of drugs in Cheshire. Don't let the well-tended lawns and McMansions fool you. These kids are taking drugs at an alarming rate. These parents are more interested in going to the country club and sipping martinis at some party.

Can't find adate on this, but living in Cheshire is no different then anyway else, as far as the drugs, alcohol, sex, bullying and stealing. Teens are getting it from home, outsiders who sell or tips on where to go and get it.
Parents are gullible and trusting until the teen is busted. Then the parent comes to the rescue and the blame goes onto another teen, not theirs. Example is: A teen whose bedroom is on the 3rd floor with a kitchen, living room and privacy. She has stashed alcohol from her parents alittle at a time to fill plastic water bottles. Even has connection to 21 year olds to buy for her. She invites other teens 14, 15, 16 to 18 years old over. The parents think they are listening to music, dancing and playing videos. When actually the teens are having sex, drinking and smoking out the bathroom window. If a friend gets to sick they such stay over night.
The parents do not feel they are responsible because if anything does come down like another parent showing up, they just sit in their 1st floor livingroom as if everything is under control. But, the visiting father finds his teen sick, vomiting & semi-conscience he brings his teen to the hospital. The host teen tells the father it may be food poisoning from McDonalds.
Hospital report is that the teen is drunk. The father calls the Cheshire police who do a home health check and is told the teen must of stolen it from their kitchen cabinet. Nothing comes of it, besides the sick teen is told not to step foot on their property. The father is told, if he continues to ask question by phone or email that he will be arrested for harassment. That is what is going on in Cheshire with teens. One more thing! Some parents buy the cigarettes for their teen so he won't be arrested in trying to buy them. If that's not child abuse, I'd be amazed.
