Hello!
What you consider architecture?
One way I look at it. Architecture is the art of construction. "L'Art de Batir" according to Violet-le-Duc. It's building with a plan. A plan, a drawing, a drawing that is planned and studied. Building in a context. Building with a purpase. Building knowing who you are. Building with reference that are part a linear history.etc.
On a simple note, good builder like architects and bad one are afraid of them. The architect is the adviser to the client and at anytime can recommand a different builder.
What do you thing of the new Wallingford Public Library? From a point of view of Urban Planning it's better! The library is now participating in the form that is created by all the building on the street old and new. But what is going on with chimneys? I like using symbolism with a little more rationality. I see 3 more chimneys, are we setting the new library with 3 new fireplaces?
Regards,
Denis
