I figure many Chehsire residents are going to demand border guards at the Southington end of the walking trail if it is actually extended to there. I'm sure they were upset enough that people from Hamden could walk into Cheshire without permission or proper documents (bank account) since the trail did dead end in Cheshire not many came in. Now that it is the same as interstate highway between Hamden and Southington something will have to be done to maintain Cheshire's status. Border stations at both ends. At least it will help with the employment. Round the clock guards minimum of 20 per shift, radio's,vehicles maybe even a chopper. It's the minimum needed protect Cheshire.

but no matter what happened at those checkpoints, or how swiftly the call would go to the cop shop- the response time in cheshire has obviously failed the people in the past

We have the best guards and they are called The Cheshire Police. After a night in New Haven, I notice that Rt. 10 has many police on the lookout for foreigners from Waterbury, Meriden or even Wallingford. Most of the people stopped are of a dark complexion, which I guess is a clue to whether or not they are one of these foreigners.

When I was a kid, you had to be careful venturing into the Wallingford bar scene cuz' the cops were real p____s. We usually stayed in Meriden, or went to Gatsby's in Middletown to listen to live bands. No border guards.

miss them days when you could go out to the crasy hourse (old dial tone)(southington), have a couple of drinks listen to some bands then drive home without haveing to worry about being stopped...might have swayed a little, but now aways everyone around you is a cop, with cell phones and people are eager to report even the slightest sway on the roads....then there are the cop bar sitters....them are the best....happy hour time .....

Wait till everybody realizes that in the spring the trail will connect to......oh my gosh.... New Haven. Thats right. The final link in Hamden is just about done. Leading from the high school right through the Newhall and Highwood sections to the New Haven line. Maybe after the Gov builts it's fence at the Mexican border they could come up here and surround Cheshire for us.
