The Southington Falcons Club will be hosting the 3rd Annual Betty Kroher Birthday Blood Drive in celebration of the 80th birthday of the former leader of the Southington Red Cross. The drive had been postponed from its original October date.

Run by the Charter Oak chapter of the Connecticut Red Cross, the blood drive will run from 1 to 6:45 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12, at the Falcons Club, 33 Knowles Ave.

The blood drive is regularly held each year in October, the month of Kroher's birthday. She was the first and only executive director of the Southington chapter of the Red Cross from 1964 until it was disbanded in 1992. Kroher, a resident of Old Saybrook, will be on hand to greet blood donors and friends and family during the drive.

To mark her 80th birthday, there will be a drawing for a number of raffle prizes, including books, DVDs and tickets to a performance at the Palace Theater in Waterbury. All who donate blood are eligible for the free raffle.
