Deeper in debt
Editor:

An open letter to government and area residents:

Quit spending money you do not have. It will put this country into debt for anyone who is alive today and the next generation as well! (We may yet revisit the history books as the next Roman Empire!)

Do as we private citizens do. If we do not have it, we do not spend it. If we do have it, buy only things you really need, not things you want all the time. We are stupid if we believe the way to happiness is to buy your way there.

They try to do it to us every day with the ads that say "now". The federal and state governments have more handout programs than we have people. Too many socialized give-a- ways. Get rid of ninety percent of the special interests and our problems would be manageable. I hope I am not alive to see us have to pay this off, if the outstanding debts (bonds, notes, and Treasuries) are all called in at one time!

You do not have to stimulate anything except your brain to see that credit and debt go hand in hand. Do you think you have a permit to spend what you do not have? Is this what makes you happy? Remember that happiness is only a perception of your mind.

Why is this the letter of the week? There were much better written letters on the Cathole Mountain development controversy on Saturday. What is the standard for letter of the week? This one was average at best.
The authors' opinion is fine and his logic is ok,
but we all know these are extraordinary times and extreme, bold measures are the only way to get out of this mess. I believe President Obama will do what is necessary to get a handle on the situation. In my opinion, he needs to be even more bolder than FDR was. We will have huge deficits for years to come, but is there any other choice?

this letter of the week is weak.
