To the moderators. I know policing this site can be a chore. Obviously inappropriate content should be deleted. However, I see a great deal of thread hijacking. The thread starts out about topic A, when someone posts a response about something totally different. I'm posting about apples and someone responds about oranges. I do not want to curtail anyone's rights, but either stick to the thread or start your own. At a certain time the moderator should step in a keep it on topic.

this is very unimportant to many of us. Otherwise where would the fun be? sometimes you need to go off topic when the topic sucks. pure and simple.

Agreed oldnickel. We're trying to let people have fun, and even if they go off topic, we're hoping they don't stray too much. I had to take down the bailout thread this morning because the personal back and forth got to be too obscene. There's really no need for that.

Sometimes it just happens that the flow of the topic veers in another direction. I don't think it happens deliberately. If anybody doesn't like it, just ignore their post and try to get back on the topic. It's that simple. Although I do agree that all the personal stuff that was going on during Christmas was too much.

There is a difference between a flow in the discussion and someone posting a response on something completely different.

alwaysright, if the topic sucks then start a new one. It is because of people like you that this forum has few active members or posters.

maybe we have a high level of intelect and not to many can compare....or we just beat the new ones down from the start.....

nothing wrong with watching a thread go where it goes.....maybe there should the to oldnickle heading.....

I have read many of the posts and the words "high intellect" do not come to mind.

if this is where you come to be intellectually stimulated, I feel bad for you. The RJ and it's forums are not exactly the New York Times and this is why the posts are just for fun. Want something better? read the damn dictionary

I did not sat that I came here for intellectual stimulation. Only responded to a remark about high intellect.

Can't wait for your next thread, that way I can see the fun comrade!!!!!

Oldnickle you are right in what you are saying but I think the moderators do not do anything for a reason none of us will ever know and I also think thier would be more post if people were not afraid of being, put down for thier personal toughts .That I think was the original idea of this but it will get fewer and fewer post because of the insults they let through,I also wish they would do thier jobs but then I apoligize for insulting them for sleeping on the job

get tough, if the people cannot take some insults they should not be posting anyway.....no one knows who you are so where would the fear come into play.....my guess is that most people just don;t want to post.....they enjoy our little club of posters....most of which are entertaining to read..insults and all....some of the attacks are a little over the top and i have done it once or twice....but its all in fun....and if you take anything here seriously.....you need to find life outside the internet.......:D .

Hi-Jacking of a thread is the deliberate act of thowing a thread off-course just to be a nuisance or trollish.

threads that take there nature twists and turns are natural refelections of, actual converstations that do the same.
