Doesn't the Southington Town Council understand reality and public perception?
Do they really need an executive session to appoint a member of the Parking Authority? And then come out of the session and appoint a person, who in their position as Assistant Director of the Southington Chamber of Commerce, is managed by a town council member?
Was the newest member of the Parking Authority actually appointed with the help of her boss or did he abstain from the vote? I don't think we will ever know.
Can Mr. Weichsel or the Southington Town Council please explain why a long-standing member of the Parking Authority, who actually wanted to be re-appointed, did not get reappointed? Please don't tell me the parking authority is getting political.
One more thing: Why did Mr. Weichsel, as you can read in the town council minutes, have to mention the job title of the person being appointed. Do you think her job title came up in the executive session? Why did it even have to be mentioned and, if it was mentioned in executive session, I hope her boss abstained from the vote.
We need answers.
