As promised here is the quote please feel free to tell me what is your feeling on this quote.

"America is just the country that shows how all the written guarantees in the world for freedom are no protection against tyranny and oppression of the worst kind. There the politician has come to be looked upon as the very scum of society."
-Peter Kropotkin-

I look forward to reading these responses.

Added superfuntimeextrabonusqueston: Who made the quote that is the title of this thread? Should be easy enough to figure out. Lets have some fun people.

You have to read Living My Life by Emma Goldman to appreciate Kropotkin's context.

As for the title quote, I prefer some of his others:

Faith: not wanting to know what is true.

or

There are no facts, only interpretations.

and the best quote ever:

What does not destroy me, makes me stronger.

I do appreciate those quotes. I am not sure that is his best quote though, my favorite quote of his is

But thus do I counsel you, my friends: distrust all in whom the impulse to punish is powerful!

I really agree with that statement. As for Kropotkin's best quote I believe it is:

"The law is an adroit mixture of customs that are beneficial to society, and could be followed even if no law existed, and others that are of advantage to a ruling minority, but harmful to the masses of men, and can be enforced on them only by terror."

That is truly a powerful, and was very controversial. Although, what about Kropotkin was not?
