View Full Version : How Obama Got Elected

Of course there's no media bias.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mm1KOBMg1Y8

512 Obama Voters 11/13/08-11/15/08 MOE +/- 4.4 points

97.1% High School Graduate or higher, 55% College Graduates

Results to 12 simple Multiple Choice Questions

57.4% could NOT correctly say which party controls congress (50/50 shot just by guessing)

81.8% could NOT correctly say Joe Biden quit a previous campaign because of plagiarism (25% chance by guessing)

82.6% could NOT correctly say that Barack Obama won his first election by getting opponents kicked off the ballot (25% chance by guessing)

88.4% could NOT correctly say that Obama said his policies would likely bankrupt the coal industry and make energy rates skyrocket (25% chance by guessing)

56.1% could NOT correctly say Obama started his political career at the home of two former members of the Weather Underground (25% chance by guessing).

And yet.....

Only 13.7% failed to identify Sarah Palin as the person on which their party spent $150,000 in clothes

Only 6.2% failed to identify Palin as the one with a pregnant teenage daughter

And 86.9 % thought that Palin said that she could see Russia from her "house," even though that was Tina Fey who said that!!

Only 2.4% got at least 11 correct.

Only .5% got all of them correct. (And we "gave" one answer that was technically not Palin, but actually Tina Fey)

Its posts like that that illustate to us all why R2D2 aligns himself with the fringe of the right.

From one of his favorite websites (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/11/18/hagel-unrestrained-takes_n_144603.html):
Two months before he leaves office, Republican Sen. Chuck Hagel is increasingly unrestrained by political niceties.

Appearing at a forum at the Johns Hopkins School of Advances International Studies, the outgoing Nebraska Republican leveled harsh criticism at his own party, the lack of intellectual curiosity among some of his colleagues, the Bush administration's handling of nearly every aspect of governance and -- perhaps most bitingly -- the conservative radio voices that often dictate the GOP agenda.

"We are educated by the great entertainers like Rush Limbaugh," said Hagel, sarcastically referencing the talk radio host who once called him "Senator Betrayus." "You know, I wish Rush Limbaugh and others like that would run for office. They have so much to contribute and so much leadership and they have an answer for everything. And they would be elected overwhelmingly," he offered. "[The truth is] they try to rip everyone down and make fools of everybody but they don't have any answers."

"Eighty-seven percent of the American people said America is going in the wrong direction," said Hagel. "You don't need to know another number about anything, and so the election was pretty predictable: the American people don't like what is going on... they want us to start doing what leaders are expected to do, address the problems, find some consensus to governing.

The main thrust of his critiques was aimed not at any individual specifically, but at a closed-off mindset that he believed had taken hold of Republican politics and, consequently, the GOP's approach to foreign policy. "Engagement is not appeasement," he said. "Diplomacy is not retreat. Somehow too many in this town and in this country have disconnected all of that."

Fortunately there are enough Republicans who still retain the ability to think for themselves. The ridiculous hyperbole spewed forth by the recent Republican campaign has shown the majority of American citizens that they had no answers, and have no clue.

Oh yeah, and "bottom of his class Annapolis grad (894/898) " McCain and "five colleges in six years" Sports Journalism major Sarah Palin are real intellectuals. And some of R2D2's people want Palin to lead the Republican party into the future!

I figured you would start drooling and twitching over the Huffpo link. You are quite predicable.

The point isnt the link- the point is the direct quotes by REPUBLICAN Senator Hagel, which you so conveniently fail to address.

I suppose I could find another link for the same quotes, but I got lazy. Several news sources have widely quoted Hagel's criticism of his fellow Repugs.

But cling to your video, if it makes you fell better....Its going to be a long 8 years for you.

One more thing, before you "poo poo" Huffington Post (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/). The site has overtaken the Drudge Report a long time ago. Drudge, like Limbaugh, is slipping into irrelevancy. Neither bear much resemblance to today's reality. Drudge's front page pre-election polls were truly bizarre.

In February, for the first time ever, Arianna Huffington’s liberal political mega-blog and news site, the Huffington Post, has apparently surpassed the longtime mighty blog leader, Matt Drudge of the conservative/populist-leaning Drudge Report, according to recent traffic data reports from both comScore (SCOR) and Nielsen Online.

And Huffpo is even in color! With pictures!

So, R2D2, hunker down in your leisure suit, and throw a BeeGee's 8 track on the stereo, and "chill out." You drink the Geritol, and I'll drink the Kool Aid. It comes in more flavors.

And the result of more internet traffic to huffington has resulted in the 12 morons interviewed in that video? That's something to toot your horn about. I'm glad you champion uninformed voters but I'm sure that's only when they vote for your candidate. So much for the claim that it was "stupid rednecks in flyover states" that put Bush in office. It looks like stupidity is spreading to the well educated, open minded blue staters.

Take a peek at who Obama is appointing to his cabinet, you think he has any plans of getting out of the middle east? Fat chance. So much for that "change".

Up next, more bailout money for corporate execs, ie, Ford, GM and Chysler. More corporate welfare for the rich? So much for that "change".

Marc Rich remember him? Pardoned by Clinton. Marc Rich fled the US rather than stick around and be prosecuted. Guess who the White House spoke with and ultimately gave a thumbs up for the pardon? You guessed it Obama's new Attorney General Eric Holder. So much for that "change" too.

And by the way, I promise you're older than me by at least 15 years, Dad.

Hagel is a Republican. LIE-berman is a self serving *****, who was not nominated by CT Democrats. He was elected by Republicans, who conveniently didnt nominate a credible candidate from their own party, and financed by Republicans. Lieberman embraces the Republican valuers of endless mideast war, and torture.

So whats the point of quoting two Republicans?

In addition to Huffpo and Kos (http://www.dailykos.com/), I recommend Firedoglake (http://firedoglake.com/) and Crooks and Liars (http://crooksandliars.com/)as good news sources.

The video sample is pretty unscientific and you stretch out some pretty rash conclusions from it. 12 specifically selected voters? I always knew Republicans were anti-science, and this shows it. And how credible is video propagandist and occasional Drudge fill-in John Ziegler (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Ziegler_(talk_show_host)/)?

You can read about his dishonesty with the data he cites in this video here (http://robotpirateninja.com/2008/11/18/nude-pics-of-michelle-malkin-surface-oh-and-john-ziegler-is-a-liar/).

On another point, the fact that Obama cut in the the Republican base, the low information voter, shows how poorly the country felt about the Bush-McCain management style of our country.

Have you seen some of the videos (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKUovpF9LWU) of the drooling screaming cross burning voters that showed up for the Palin rallies?

But what is the point of choosing selected people and quoting them? We each can find 12 morons to illustrate our point, but it doesn't change the basic premise by making it right or wrong.

And , Herbert "R2D2" Hoover, You're only as old as your ideas.

But go ahead and post more pictures. They're easier for your dittoheads to understand than words.

So you are comparing the Obama to the unstable cult leader Jim Jones (who did not have the balls to drink his own kool aid, but had someone shot him in the head)...are you kidding....no wonder you rightwing wing nuts got voted out......This country drank the rights kool aid for the past 8 years and where are we? In war (2 of them), in financial trouble, our society is crumbing from the ground up, why? Because the right doesn't care about anything other than money. By that I mean the right does not care for people, the planet or anything that gets in the way of them making or stealing money. Republican claim they stand for less government, less regulations, less, less, less…We have the largest government in the history of the US, we have more and more people falling with little support to help them out, jobs shipped overseas for the past 20 years with no controls to stop them (this was both a rep and dem issue), we have the wealthy getting wealthier and the middleclass becoming the new poor.

Yep; your side did a great job over the past 8 years…..something to be proud of.

And since you like links, here is another (http://forums.ctrecord.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=13297), from conservative nationally syndicated columnist Kathleen Parker on the state of the Republican party:

"Suffice it to say, the Republican Party is largely comprised of white, married Christians," observes Parker. "Anyone watching the two conventions last summer can't have missed the stark differences: One party was brimming with energy, youth and diversity; the other felt like an annual Depends sales meeting."

Continues Parker, "It isn't that culture doesn't matter. It does. But preaching to the choir produces no converts. And shifting demographics suggest that the Republican Party -- and conservatism with it -- eventually will die out unless religion is returned to the privacy of one's heart where it belongs."

And don't forget that certain southern states like Alabama led by Republican Senator Shelby are lobbying hard to let Detroit fail.

Alabama has several high tech non union foreign owned automobile assembly plants (Hyundai, Honda, Mercedes, Toyota) and stands to gain greatly from Detroit's demise. Expect a whole clutch of Southern Republicans to lobby hard against Detroit.

I'm not defending Detroit, its just important to understand all the interests at play in this dialog, not just our national interest.
