View Full Version : Republican loss, on purpose?

Did the Republicans realizing the shape the economy is in and the fact that the American public demands instant satisfaction run a campaign that had little to no chance to win on purpose? I can just hear the Republican strategists, the economy is in terrible shape, even though it's a Democratic congress with a lower approval rating then Bush that did its share to cause it the public won't remember that. The other problem is the American public demands instant everything from coffee to marriage, divorce, enlightenment, anything and everything must happen when they want it forget the fact that it can't. Let's let the Democrats win. This will work out great as another fact about American voters is they have the memory span of 1 news broadcast to the next It's announced Nov. 5 that the Democrats have won, within a week they are putting out their recovery plan, by Christmas they've pretty much taken over the problem. Come the inauguration they own it lock stock and barrel. If it isn't resolved by summer they are going to take full heat for it, not because they should but rather all the public heard during the campaign was "we will fix it" and with a Democratic congress and President it better be done. Throw into the mix a black President and what this will do to race relations in this country if the economy doesn't straighten out right away I shudder to think. Race relations have not improved or changed in years all that's happened is they've been shoved under the rug by putting in place hate/bias crimes law, outlawing racial and ethnic slurs but never dealing with the actual issue of how to achieve true integration and equality.
So maybe the Republicans made a smart decision lose this one, let the Democrats try or maybe start to fix the problem, however it won't happen quick enough to satisfy the American public so the Republicans will start winning back seats in the mid term elections and have a good chance to regain the White House in 2012.
It's just a thought.

There is a school of thought in the Republican party, circulating around some conservative blogs, that they didn't run far enough to the right, and that is why they lost.

History show that the party that captures the center generally wins. I think Obama knows this, and will govern from the center. If the Republicans keep pandering to the christian taliban extreme right fringe elements of the party, exemplified by Palin's base, they are destined to many years of being the "loyal opposition."

Obama does have Bush, Cheney, Wolfowitz, Kristol, and Perle to thank for his election to the White House. He couldn't have done it without them. And it was so kind of them to concentrate so much power in the executive branch.

CNN reports that many Republicans stayed away from the polls because of McCain's choice of picking Palin and that McCain didn't support the far right.

I wish the choice could be more of someone in the middle rather than the far right or left. We need common sense, not radical far right or left ideologies.
But, common sense and politics don't mix.

Headache? I'm sorry I forgot you people who voted democratic have trouble with words and concepts unless they say welfare, giveaway take from the rich, stuff like that. I'll try to find some comic book pictures to put up next time so you can maybe grasp whatever idea I trying to get across. Looks like I'll have a few years to practice with the pictures. If it bores you oh well. You voted for him I didn't

You assume I voted for Obama? Why because I think your idea of the Republicans losing on purpose is rediculous? That statement is like a 10 year old kid losing a game then claiming "I lost on purpose!!!"

the Republicans sure weren't trying to lose all to house and senate seats!!

You give them too much credit for the lose on purpose theory.

Dont forget that the Republicans controlled both Houses of congress and the Presidency for six years. Even with Dem majorities in the congress the last two years, the Dems did not have veto or filibuster proof majority.

Republicans lost because their basic economic philosophy can not sustain itself. Trickle down is a joke. Less regulation/non regulation is an even bigger joke. Appointing positions strictly based on adherence to party orthodoxy gave us incompetents to run things.

The basic Republican mantra was always that the market will correct itself so no Govt interference is necessary. What happened to that idea. I guess a lot of people who want to retire in the next ten years didn't like it.

Sure you sound like an Osama fan. Lose on purpose yes, but not like a kid as you put it but actually as a strategy sometimes you have to lose to gain in the long run. The smart ones know when and what to lose as well as how. If you play chess you'll understand how small sacrifices can lead to big wins. The Republicans probably didn't have much of a chance to win this time however by insuring it they are gambling and probably correctly that after 4 years of Osama government economics the country will be begging for someone to turn the country around and restore the lost pride and strength and economy this election cost us. Just think after this Presidency the country may stay Republican for 20 years. This last part while they will deny it will give alwaysright and flatrat jitters and bad dreams for years because they know in their hearts 3rd world socialist is not a good form of government and it won't survive long. They only ones surviving are the ones getting foreign aid from us.

it sounds like you need an antianxiety pill- you are wound tight. and after Obama wins his second term, and Biden takes the next- we'll talk about how wrong Jimbo is. Socialist is not a dirty word- and I'm pretty sure by both of you guy's posts that you've probably never worried about anyone but yourselves, you selfish pigs

I owe RC12L4 an apology I thought he was one of your buddies. Sorry. Osama winning a 2nd term? That does make sense, the History Channel did a show on the world ending Dec 21 2012. That would be better then another Osama presidency. Or could it be the cause. I can't speak for RC12L4 however never been or been called selfish. My hand is always out to help people UP. I've been down and been helped UP so I pass it on. Hand outs are totally different in my mind. A hand up is just that, helping someone get on with their life. A hand out is just greed from the recipient a lazy bum who just wants to live on the backs of others without doing anything themselves except whining and complaining that no one pays for everything for them. Kindly get you definitions correct, helping up someone so they can take care of themselves again and in the future help others is what I do when I can. Just giving tax money to lazy bums who don't want to work I object to.
Have a nice day. Again RC12L4 I apologize.

I'd post a retort but with your health condition I'll refrain. I hope you're feeling better.

End of the world predictions are common and they all have one thing in common, they are consistently wrong.

I do look forward to the rapture, when all the religious nuts escape to wherever and leave the rest of us rational humanists alone.

We must question the story logic of having an all-knowing all-powerful God, who creates faulty humans, and then blames them for his own mistakes.
