Yes you’re right when I got there we had over 700 employees by the time building 1 closed, we had about 300. I hear we got less than 150 now, my family member was recently laid off after 25 + years of service! I don’t know what Wallingford will do if it closes. But just like every other company in the U.S. all roads lead to cheap labor!

His lousy policies and your following like a sheep. It's you republicans who dropped all the controls. It will be along road, but we'll be better now.

Hello....

For YOU to find fault against " your " ...idol ...in my post.... lol

WHO is the jerk ?

I don't seem to recall typing in the name Obama ?

Seems your vines have... " tender grapes..." lol

And " My GUY " is whoever is elected. It is irrelevant, to the plight
of good paying jobs in America as to WHO was just elected. Product
lines going to Communist Red China won't be stopped and we " grown
ups " all know that. Corporate America makes these decisions... and
they that approve of this, should be taken out... put up against a wall
and shot.... IMHO

You my friend sjhould consider a change in name... to always crap

look at it this way billy boy- if you get laid off maybe you can hitch onto the gravy train you so wrongly imagine is starting to leave the station. we'd even help a hapless guy like you.

While one might think that job losses (euphemistically called “outsourcing”) to the Pacific Rim are not related to politics, but rather to the greed of corporate executives who seek to bolster their bottom lines (and their own bonuses) at the expense of American workers, one must keep in mind that a major contributing factor to this travesty has been the laissez faire attitude of government as a whole toward the trend. Like too many others, I too found myself recently unemployed after a proud Connecticut company that prided itself on exporting 70 percent of its American-made products was acquired by a holding company that had a “maximize profit” mentality and moved all of its manufacturing operations to China and India; this was after working for another proud Connecticut corporation that was also acquired and subsequently closed as its products went offshore (and that happened while Bill Clinton was still in office). So I am entirely sympathetic to Bill’s viewpoint. It will be interesting to see if the shift in power at the Presidential level makes a difference; certainly, Congress (including Democrats) did nothing to stem the tide.

I'm not sure how we reverse the trade and job loss we've had now for the past 15-20 years. I've tried to always buy American products and that includes cars. We have so much made outside this country now we could not afford a trade war with American made products being taxed entering other countries.
Obama may give tax credits to corporations staying in the US, but like Meriden, when the tax credit is up they vanish overnight.
If he is too hard on businesses, they could end up hurting his reelection bid.
There's no easy answer for the trade deficit.

Hello...

" Billy Boy " ???

I suppose your not familiar with Clint Eastwood films or you would know
where Bill Carson originated from.

In any case, I'll be with the last group that leaves. As for taking care of
me... that's a laugh in itself.

Unlike the free loaders on welfare, your Program of choice for the lazy and
uneducated, I have worked my entire life, have saved money, have a plan
( financial )that carries me to my grave. Can you boast of the same...
I didn't think so.

My point was job loss due to Corporate need to maximize profits... by
sending work and product lines to China, a Communist Country. I see
that getting an intelligent response from you is like talking to a 2 year
old. I can also see that " always right " refers to your belef that YOU
are always right. That in itself is most revealing... and amusing... lol.

Later child.

I've worked and saved too- and to top it off- my best 401K is my father in law- who has a big old pot of money and spends very little. So I'm OK too.

I'm not surprised you would live off of someone else. You are a SCHMUCK! You're father in law must be real proud of what his wife married. Poor wife!

although I fail to see what age has to do with it- I'm old enough to have gone to Woodstock. Old enough to have had to dodge the draft to avoid my very low number of 36 bring me to viet nam. Old enough to have been tear gassed at the mayday protests in New Haven when the panthers were on trial.. Old enough to get those damn aarp envelopes constantly. Old enough to have a 23 and a 20 year old kid.( but then again, we didn't try to have kids until after 5 years of marraige)the younger in college, but graduating in the spring- the elder graduated and working at a job that pays more than his old man. old enough to probably know better than to aggrivate people who aren't smart enough to realize that MY opinons are all that matters...yet young enough to feel a part of this wonderful transformation that this gawdforsaken country has needed for the last 8 years of a tyranical, near dictatorship under little george and his handlers. I'm no patriot- I'll be the very first to admit that. fate puts you in a country- there is absolutely no obligation to feel love or allegiance. But we have the right to complain- so I do. double standard? certainly. It's what america was built on. all in all, I gues I'm just old enough to type what I want and without bothering to do spell check- just post it up.

You, anna , are probably an older bag.

Enacted by the Clinton administration, NFTA has killed this countries workforce due to the cheap labor in China and other countries willing to work (slave) for nothing. The good old Dems started the problem NOT G.W.B..
