Anyone see Obama's Infomercial on TV Wednesday night? I didn't, but I saw this on You Tube and read a few articles on it. He said that we needed a well funded Civillian National Security Force. Does anyone know exactly what it is, what it's purpose is and who would comprise it and run it? Any insight?

Didn't Hitler have something like that called the SS? How about USSR and the KGB? To beat Flatrat and Alwaysright to the punch didn't little george and the other one (I can't dignify him with a name) start homeland security, warrantless wiretaps and all kinds of infringements on the Bill of Rights all supposedly never to be used against Americans? I guess Barrack Hussein Obama is just starting his bully squad before the election so if he wins it will be in place.

I am going to start a new thread with this... But since no one replies to my posts...
You can preview my new thread here... :)

From The Washington Post ~ Americans have cut back on buying cars, furniture and clothes in a tough economy, but there's one consumer item that's still enjoying healthy sales: guns.

http://wwwtmrcom.blogspot.com/2008/10/gun-sales-spike-as-election-nears.html

Seems to me that the "civilians" are already arming themselves...
Wonder what they know that I don't...
Oh... wait... My wife and I already own our guns...
We use them at the BTR... to shoot houses in Durham... :D

This is what I was thinking. Again, that little frog in that pot of water on the stove. Slow boil...

I think we'll need them to protect us from our "savior" type government. Time to go shopping, again.

I dont have a clue what you are talking about, unless you are referring to the George Bush government hiring of Blackwater Security (http://thestrangedeathofliberalamerica.com/americas-fundamentalist-mercenaries-blackwaters-threat-to-domestic-security.html) to provide Law enforcement in New Orleans and other places.

Blackwater is a private army run by a right wing religious cuckoo millionaire Erik Prince (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erik_Prince). The Bush government has hired it in several foreign countries, as well as New Orleans.

So Anna tell me where you heard about the civilian security force of Obama?

He said it during his 30 minute address on Wednesday night. I saw it on Drudge and then on TV. I still don't understand what exactly he is talking about. Please don't start on about Drudge by the way. Obama said it. I just want to know what he means.

I was hoping you might provide me with the cite.

Obama has proposed a community service program, where the young can join social welfare type programs similar to Peace Corps and VISTA and "give back" to America without having to join the military. I havent heard anything about "security" programs.

The civilian option might work better for patriotic youong women who want to serve their country as CNN (http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/07/31/military.sexabuse/index.html)reports four out of ten female soldiers have reported being sexually assaulted by our own troops, while serving.

And Jim is right, Bush and his buddy Joe LIE-berman have created the Homeland Security program, where you take a bunch of small ineffective government bureaucracies and create a large ineffective government bureaucracy. We saw how well that worked in New Orleans. Last I heard the FBI was using a horribly outdated computer system, and our ports were not adequately screened, but you couldnt take more than 3 oz of liquid on a plane. (Hopefully that has changed, but I doubt it)

It seems people seem to rationalize a bad idea with another bad idea. It's similar to two children hitting each other and one justifying his "smack" by saying he did it first. When did adults start thinking like four year olds. Obama made the comment. All I wanted was some interpretations of HIS words. I guess no one knows what he meant.

Just more control of people by cowards who are afraid of the people they govern or may govern. It's exactly what our forefathers fought against in 1776 that type of tryanny and government by fear.

How can we know what he meant when you can't show us what you claim he said?

I read everything. I'm guessing you don't.
This statement was on Wednesday night. If you watched it, you heard it.
It wasn't made up.
Never mind.

Anna, I just this very minute got through watching O'bama's infomerial, and there was nothing about any well funded civilian national security force!!!!!!!

O'bama did NOT say any such thing!!!! I think you hear and are told things, don't really listen or comprehend too well, and then you make up and imagine things that were not said at all, and put your own spin on it!!!

Anyone who watched and listened to him the night of his infomercial, would have known he was the right choice for president of the United States of America.

The people have spoken and he is our new president.

This is even more fun than I ever imagined. The McCaged people are really ticked off and for once, it's not just me getting them there. I hope you all have some tums and anti-anxiety pills.

I'm going to start toasting the new president very soon today- will have to run out for a little more hootch.

You McCaged people will continue to harp about the slim margin in popular vote- which, does not count. ie: Bush/Gore- and you'll cry about having to live in a country that no longer exists (JImbo- your country was a place in your own mind anyway) and then continue to be whiners and cryers about these glorious results.

I cannot wait for the right wing Richter to rant and rave in sunday's column. Canada???? maybe you all need to price land in Montreal.

Drudge and Faux News are a One-Two punch of misinformation and spin.

The best one was a story yesterday that the Black Panthers were armed and standing in front of polls preventing people from voting.

I was going to watch Faux News last night but after Pa came in, I fell asleep.

Anna if you want unbiased stuff, try Politico.com (http://www.politico.com/), or as I have said before, any of the foreign press outlets like BBC, AFP etc. (yes even Al Jazeera can be informative)

Dis anyone ask Bill O'reilly how much of his money Andrea Mackris (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrea_Mackris) donated to the Obama campaign?

From Gawker:
For years, one man controlled all the news: Matt Drudge, nutty conservative weather-obsessed Miami queen blogger. He "broke" the Monica Lewinsky thing, sort of, and then for nearly ten years his website drove news narratives and pushed stories to the forefront. Even as recently as the primary season, some years past his peak influence, Drudge helped destroy the Clinton campaign with relentless Obama-boosting. Then, of course, he had to switch back to being a straight-up GOP hack. We'd say he just boosted Obama because he felt McCain would beat the Illinois Senator, but the fact is, his visceral hatred for the Clintons probably drove him just as much as anything else. Since the conventions, though, he's been an embarrassment. He highlights completely misleading bull**** and can't get anyone but the dumbest of bloggers to pick up on his pet stories.

As Eric Bohlert notes in Media Matters today, Drudge has become so divorced from reality that even the serious press people who've religiously trusted his instincts since the Clinton days can't square his headlines with reality. His cherry-picked poll results are plainly ridiculous, last week's Drudge-touted "McCain Comeback" never even pretended to materialize, and he's completely, completely missed, by design, the major narratives of the last month of the campaign: Palin's national meltdown, the increasingly crazed McCain rallies, and Obama's fundraising and ground advantages. Instead we get... Biden on Botox, a little ACORN, and feeble attempts at finding crazy liberals attacking McCain supporters. They all work like a charm on the Conservative Blogosphere, but back in the good old days, that was just the first step toward mainstream discussion. Now, no one gives a ****.

Maybe after the election Drudge will buckle down, like Fox, and provide the voice of the embattled opposition. But a conservative crack-up and the apparent disillusion of the tacit MSM/right-wing noise machine cooperative venture is not great news for Matt. And it's a long time until the next hurricane season.

Most credible journalists agree that Drudge peaked around 2000 and has deteriorated into fantasy land ever since.
