Could John McCain have found someone more ignorant and more incurious to be his running mate?

SP: Not on your life. If it was good enough for the founding fathers, its good enough for me and I’ll fight in defense of our Pledge of Allegiance.

And the other day she opined that her first amendment rights have been threatened because the media has been critical of her.
And after 3 tries, she still doesnt know what a Vice President does...
Shouldn't someone who might be a "heartbeat away" at least be able to pass an 8th grade civics exam?
