Its quite obvious that Sarah Palin is not quite ready for prime time. The McCain camp has kept her from all press contact since she was appointed as his running mate. This is unprecedented in modern history. CNN and other news organizations are responding by refusing to cover her campaign.
If she cant handle a reporter, how is she going to......? oh, forget it...

McCain camp tries to to keep reporters out of Palin meetings
Posted: 01:45 PM ET
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/09/23/media-presses-mccain-campaign-for-access-to-palin-meeting/
(CNN) — McCain-Palin campaign officials shifted course Tuesday after being informed by television news organizations that they would not broadcast footage of Sarah Palin’s meeting with Afghan leader Hamid Karzai Tuesday in New York — the Republican VP nominee’s first with a foreign leader — if a reporter was not allowed in to observe the pair.
CNN, which was the pool network for the event, informed the campaign of its decision. The network was then told a CNN producer would be allowed in the room to act as a media representative, just minutes before the photo op was scheduled to take place. However, print reporters and wire services were not allowed to observe the meeting, as they have been able to do at similar McCain events in the past.
The press only caught a brief glimpse of the vice presidential nominee. Palin was seated in a large chair a few feet from Karzai, with a table in between them. Seated slightly behind Palin were campaign foreign policy advisers Steve Biegun and Randy Scheunemann, who are accompanying the governor in her motorcade today.
As the pool entered, the Afghan president appeared to be telling Palin about his young son, who was born in January 2007.
Palin, her legs crossed and at one point patting her heart, was leaning in eagerly and smiling. Karzai, wearing his traditional clothes but without his trademark karakul hat, was also grinning while discussing the child. His remarks were mostly unintelligible as the noise from the clicking cameras drowned them out.
“What is his name?,” Palin asked.
“Mirwais,” Karzai responded. “Mirwais, which means, ‘The Light of the House.’”
“Oh nice,” Palin responded.
“He is the only one we have,” remarked Karzai.
After 29 seconds observing the meeting, CNN and other photographers covering the meeting were escorted out of the room.
Later, McCain-Palin press representatives chalked up the restrictions to a “mix-up, a miscommunication among staff.” The full pool — a print and wires reporter, along with a television producer — was then allowed in to observe Palin’s meeting with Colombian President Alvaro Uribe for 15-20 seconds.

You'd think the McCain camp would want her out there, answering the hard questions, showing her skill and knowledge and demonstrating how she should be a heartbeat away from the presidency. Or perhaps they don't want her out there, answering the hard questions because then, even the most ardent Palin fan would recognize that she's the most unprepared vice presidential candidate in modern times.

The old "mean old liberal press" whine. When you dont have an answer, insert whine.. its so retro. This was Republican felon Dick Nixon's big line in the 70's. Maybe its time to retire it. Are you saying she cant handle the press?
Is Hilary running for VP? And Biden is out there, making his share of gaffes, so what? He will make more. So what?
Palin finally met a head of state. Wow! She must be qualified to run our country now. After all, Wasilla, Alaska is so much like Washington.
Let the FBI investigate and let the chips fall where they may. I just hope the McCain crowd doesnt try to interfere like they are doing with the bipartisan Troopergate investigation.
Its obvious Palin is a blank hard drive being programmed to the neocon philosophy. I guess they havent finished.the program. Her isolation from the press is unprecedented for a candidate.
So what are they hiding? She went to five colleges in six years to get a journalism degree, and she worked as a journalist. She is one of them, a professional. Maybe she will do OK, but we will never know if they dont let her out there. Or are they being sexist, as Campbell Brown on CNN suggests.
What is she hiding? What are they hiding? We have survived 8 years of Uncurious George, we can handle a Palin press conference. Give us a chance. Give her a chance.

Listen, My ears hurt when Palin speaks....the only reason that they have her on the ticket is because they think she is hot and will bring in the votes. Yes, i will admit that if Hillary was with Obama, he would have a 20 point lead. He did mess that one....but Palin, the more i learn about her the worse it gets. Palin definitely is not ready for Washington...she should go back to Alaska and do some fishing.....oh, and please take Bush with her...

McCain wants to suspend the campaign to concentrate on the economy. He also wants to post pone the debate on Friday. Although I agree they (congress) need to work this out, why post pone the debate? Is it because the McCain camp knows Obama is getting traction from this fiasco? Is it because McCain is clueless and needs the time to study and get informed?
I have no problem with suspending the campaigns, but don't post pone the debate on Friday. The American people deserve to hear from the candidates now, not a week before the election.

McCain is going to "Cut and Run" from the debate because he has no clue and he is afraid of the questions he knows Obama will ask, and has no answers.
McCain=Gramm=Economy.
Now he wants to cancel the VP debate as well? As Shakespeare said in Hamlet: "Something is rotten in the state of Denmark."
or is it Arizona?
Why cant' the experienced Palin step in for him and debate Obama, if John cant show? After all, thats supposed to be her job.
Watch David Letterman tonight.

On postponing the campaign this is what the public thinks:
http://www.surveyusa.com/client/PollReportUC.aspx?g=54d651a7-a62b-4420-bb32-9dd6b2df8c02
Several questions. But two key ones.
What to do about debates?
Hold as Scheduled 50%
Hold with Econ Focus 36%
Postpone 10%
Suspend Campaigns?
Suspend 14%
Continue 31%
Refocus on Fin. Crisis 48%
Would canceling the debates be good for America? 14% say yes.
Most people don't want the campaign or the debate cancelled.
This move is a reckless desperate gamble by McCain, just like his pick of Sarah Palinas his cloistered VP running mate.
Does this point to a greater personality flaw in McCain? Do we really want someone this impulsive in the White House? Think about it. He is a true gambler. Even if he gets away with this, it is a wild gamble.
How is he going to act in a real and immediate crisis? With the 3 AM phone call?

Isn't the potential president of the United States supposed to be able to deal with questions from the press (even the "liberal" press, whatever that is) so the rest of us know what she is about? Even difficult questions? In a job interview, one is asked questions and the little we have seen of her outside of tightly controlled situations, is not encouraging. If she can't stand the heat...

so- he's chickening out on the debate- neither the dems or the republicans really want his opinion on the financial crisis and he's looking more and more like a cranky old man who forgot his metamucil.

I have a great idea: let's have Palin substitue for McCain at the debate! I mean, she's ready to take over the helm should anything befall McCain, right?? The thought alone makes me laugh out loud!
I knew there was something I didn't like about this person:
Sarah Palin didn’t say “thanks but no thanks” to the Bridge to Nowhere. She just said “Thanks.”
McCain chose a running mate who doesn’t know the Bush doctrine from the Monroe Doctrine!
McCain chose a running mate who had to ask if she was allowed to ban books from a public library!
It’s not bad enough she thinks the planet Earth was created in six days 6,000 years ago complete with a man, a woman and a talking snake, she wants schools to teach the rest of our kids to deny Geology, Anthropology, Archaeology, and common sense too!
It’s not bad enough she’s forcing her own daughter into a loveless marriage to a teenage hood, she wants the rest of us to guide our daughters in that direction too!
It’s not enough that a woman shouldn’t have the right to choose---SHE wants that it should be the law of the land that she has to carry and deliver her rapist’s baby too!
I don’t know whether or not Governor Palin has the tenacity of a pit bull, but I know for sure she’s got the qualifications of one!

Even conservative columnists are calling for her to step down. After 3 interviews, Kathleen Parker of the conservative National Review, an early supporter of Palin, observes that Palin is in over her head.
"Palin’s recent interviews with Charles Gibson, Sean Hannity, and now Katie Couric have all revealed an attractive, earnest, confident candidate. Who Is Clearly Out Of Her League."

But hey, John "Impulsive" McCain has already declared himself the winner of tonight's debate.

McCain announced Thursday night (before the debate even took place) that he had won. Most polls indicate that among undecided voters Obama won, but not by a huge margin. But since foreign policy was supposed to be McCain's forte, I'm sure the Obama camp is pleased.
McCain need to learn how to pronounce foreign leaders names, if he is going to negotiate with them.
And I was always taught that liars couldn't look you in the face. He had that angry look, like he hadnt taken his Metamucil.
I hope those voting for McCain are not voting for the 2000 McCain who was such a different person than the "Johnny Angry" McCain of today.

The most scarry thing about this race is not Obama, McCain, or Palin. It is the crazy man that never talks to the media anymore for fear of embarassing the Democratic party. I just don't think Biden is a stable human being.

I just think Biden is a horrible pick for Obama. he could have done much better.
Another Biden quote: "I've had a great relationship. In Delaware, the largest growth in population is Indian Americans — moving from India. You cannot go to a 7-11 or a Dunkin' Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. I'm not joking."
He just can't control what comes out of his mouth.
