I really, really wanted to like this one.

To be fair, parts of the movie worked for me. The CGI is nothing short of amazing, and the movie successfully captured the comic Ghost Rider during its action sequences. Ghost rider is at its best when GR is a whompin' and a whoopin' on supernatural baddies, and part of me is happy that I was able to experience Ghost Rider at the theatre to experience the impact of the action sequences in their full glory.

Unfortunately, action does not comprise the majority of the movie. Ruined by a table-flat performance by Nicholas Cage, it is a good thing Eva Mendes is around to distract with contrast (and curves!) else it would have taken the bassy booms of the action sequences to rouse me from an in-theatre nap. The story is somewhat in line with the comic, and might satisfy some fans, and the ending is pedestrian, anticlimactic, and sadly boring.
