although I'm trying to stay away from the babbling morons that make up the leadership of the republican party, I can hear the mumblings of laura now- and then little george tried to avoid politics altogether.calling McCain a hero is kind of stretching it. The man was hardly incountry and he got caught. Now, after a couple of years picking bamboo out of his sorry ass, he's damaged and hoping for more war. Post traumatic symdrome folks, plain and simple- however, not as simple as little george.

Hello....
IMHO... if the soldiers in Iraq shooting from reletive safety of Tanks,
helicopter gunships and land based fighters are considered " heros "
then McCain cannot be thought of as anything less.
McCain was shot out of the sky... by a SAM compliments of COMMUNIST
CHINA...( the 2008 Olympic Host country ) Beaten daily ... refusing to
leave his fellow POW's when they found out about his fathers position in
the Navy and offered him a ticket home. . His statue bears his ordeals.
He did not volunteer for a free education... for money... or for his " Rambo
Ego "... he did it out of love of Country.
Yet we elevate kids to hero status for just being in Iraq driving
dump trucks ... and rolling them over into a drainage ditches.
And even when they do engage the " enemy " it's never a fair fight. We
shoot from unseen drones... from Cuise Missles.... the enemy in Iraq....
shoot from behind a sand dune or sitting on a camel. Put a 10 year
old in a boxing ring with Mike Tyson... and after the fight... call Mike
a great boxer.... same thing. We call the dead ten year old a terrorist.
I've seen the video's of our gunships blowing people on the ground into
ground beef and laughing about it like it's a video game. Heros... maybe,
but not in my book. An Iraqi civilian... taking on an American GI in the
defence of HIS country...facing certain death... is a Hero. A dead son...
a dead father... but to the family, a hero.
So...back to our soldiers....
If they are hero's... then so too is McCain and every Vietnam Vet...
even John ( swiftboat ) Kerry. Equally...and without question.
Then again... maybe I'm all wet..... perhaps the only real hero was
John Wayne....although he never wore a real uniform.... or fought a
real fight. or maybe Bat Man... or...lol
Most military people don't think of themselves as heros, it's a title people give them. My sister served in Afghanistan, my cousins in Iraq, they never use the term hero. It's their job, like police and fireman. Do they do heroic things, yes sometimes? I appreciate every one of them. And God bless them.
