Now if you have seen my name before that was my husband the Brit speaking.
Now everyone is either happy about the new downtown development or they are complaining about crime, noise, or just ranting in a harmful way towards others on here which is why I'm writing now.
I was born in Meriden , then until I was 10 I lived in Wallingford, then moved back to Meriden. What I didn't see in Wallingford were many blacks ( I only knew one) Latinos, Asians etc I knew what a Mexican looked like because I had been to Aculpuco when I was 9. I was enthralled with all the new culture around me but also felt like an idiot for not knowing where some people came from like when I asked what nationality someone was when I was in 5th grade and they said Puerto Rican and I had even less of a clue where Puerto Ricans came from. Now here is diversity. I am now 29 and still caught up in the glory of other cultures though my only language is English.
Here is some history for you, Meriden once was the traveling Center in the State and still is , we as a people could make this a better city yet we don't.
Before you start saying we need new business, new markets, new vendors you have to get to the heart of Meriden and thats her people.
WHy brag about us being diverse when we aren't united as a people and not just white, black,Puerto Rican, Mexican,Polish, Equadorian, Indian,Pakistani, etc, when everyone seems to run the other way from eachother like its a mortal sin to be around eachother and to talk to eachother.
I don't own a car I walk everywhere and am willing to talk to everyone but when it comes to sharing the same side walk people walk 5 feet in the other direction like you have leperacy.
I know I'll get evil comments about this but it will just prove my point that there is no Unity if I get some nice points of you well to both may you have good blessings come your way take care Love Jen:)
