I like that councilors are holding open forums to listen to citizens. Too bad more people don't attend. Free pizza and an opportunity to share your opinions and ideas--what's not to like?

The summer concerts at Hubbard Park are always good.

lets put it this way, SOME councilors are holding open forums in there districts. NOT ALL OF THEM ARE. Kogut and Daniels have the right attitude. At least they care about the people of Meriden while other are in it for themselves.

Councilors McGgoldrick and Santiago, who are the Council Area I representatives hosted a meeting at John Barry School just a few weeks ago, and have done that before. Councilors Gordon and Salafia hosted a meeting for Area IV at Hanover School prior to that, and have done so previously. Mark Benigni when he was mayor, and several of the at large Council members, including Mike Rohde have attended these meetings. Deputy Mayor Dominello regularly attends meeting of the several neighborhood associations in Council Area II. All of the Councilors similarly attend neighborhood association meetings in their areas.

This is fine but some of the councilors mentioned did not send out fliers nor did not notify all the constiuents of there areas about the meeting which is wrong....

Each of them were announced in the newspaper and at televised council meetings.

They listen, but do they follow-up on complaints, or just smile and blow sunshine up your butts?

Don't forget your Boards and Commissons. They are an important part of the political process that decide many important aspects of your daily life.

Most members are always ready to listen to your questions, concerns and complaints.

Bonus, most Commissions are mandated by State law to have Minority representation.

Wish that concept extended itself to the racial and ethnic demographics of the city, as well as female representation. Sorry, Mr. Brunet, I couldn't resist.

Don't apologize! Well said!
