I'm not sure what you’re referring to, the Quinni?
The Quinni has always had an odor. This time of year it's worse because the river is very low and most of the flow in it is return effluent from sewage treatment plants.
As local towns Meriden, Southington, Cheshire and Wallingford continue to develop, more water is drawn from the Quinnipiac aquifer via wells and other sources. The result is a lower water table and the river level gets lower.
The state has limits on the amount of water the local towns can pump daily from the aquifer.
I'm not sure what the answer is but the towns can only develop so much as there is limited water to meet demand. Sooner or later, we will reach the limit. Once that happens, where will they get the tax revenue they crave so much?

are you downstream from the sewage plant. Most of Wallingfords treated sewage is piped into the Quinni and yes it has an odor.
