Can anyone tell me when the makeup games for July 14th will be played....
I forgot to call the hotline after nine o'clock last night due to the HR Derby.
This seems better than writing the MASA board...since I do not know when I'll get a response. I'll probably get a postcard in the mail on the day of the re-scheduled game. Hopefully they won't change the time like they did last rainout. There's gotta be a better way. Masa website????? This forum?

I can only speak for the MASA mens division...they have been re-schedule/moved to July 23, 2008, same time, same fields, same teams...Also, you can call MASA on 7/23/08 just to make sure the time hasn't change.....Good Luck

I'll confirm that the men's games were moved to 7/23, same times/same fields. I think the women went to 7/24, but to be honest didn't pay attention to the announcement since it didn't concern me.

Men's 7/23 - same times, same fields.
Women's 7/24

I did not know the homerun derby started at 5:30 - the reschedule dates were on the hotline at 5:30.

98% of the time the reschedules have been on the hotline. Sorry if the postcards were not to your liking. Next time look to the sky, a smoke signal with your makeup will be coming your way.

Ok, I had been calling the hotline all day to get confirmation of a rainout...the message was not updated until around 5 p.m. The message at that point stated to call back AFTER 9 O'CLOCK for makeup information.
My mistake.
My beef with the postcards is that I received it an hour before our actual game time. (time was changed from 7:15 to 6 o'clock) We are a corporate sponsored team with several guys coming from out of town. There was no way I'd have a full team there on such short notice. Too little too late as my team rolled in to Nessing play a 7:15 game. I wrote a letter regarding the game, but have received no response. I assume that we will not be playing that game, but I feel MASA should not charge us with a forfeit because of the time change.

Don't take it personal MikeMc...We sponsored our team too and can't even get a proper response from MBoard with teams standings (I got that they played B4 electricity) "HUH", r they seriousssssss!!!!!, but yet, had electricity to type a "NEGATIVE" response...Good Luck on getting a response...

P.S.
As I type, I'm looking out my office window to see if I can see the smoke signal with my make-up date....Don't forget to look, the smoke signal will be coming ur way....:) :) :)

What was the reason for changing the game times for rainout makeups? If it was to make it easier for 1 team to be there, it is not fair to the other teams who made sure they were available for the originally scheduled game. If we have to wait for the hotline on the day of the game to be sure of the game time then I expect more teams to forfeit out of the league next year. All of these problems could be solved if MASA used easily available technology to improve communication. There are plenty of websites that will host a league's homepage for free and then MASA could use E Mail instead of a PO Box and send out E Mail's instead of post cards. And standings, schedules, and any other league info can be easily distributed without spending anything on postage and eliminate most of the complaints. Anything is better then wise-ass remarks about smoke signals and the I am going to take my ball and go home approach.

First off, let me apologize for my comments, out of character, out of line.

Now as another board member stated, MASA is looking into creating a website.

I also did some checking, the standings are listed in the paper approx. every two weeks - this is consistent with previous years.

Now let's flip the coin over....again this year, players are ignorant of the rules and regulations which again, shows team representatives are not reviewing them their respective teams. A good example is on more than one instance players have shown up with metal cleats.

Scheduling - no doubt this has been a very frustrating year for teams and for MASA. However, part of the problem has been MASA "being nice" and accomodating teams with requesting unscheduled changes and teams requesting entire weeks off. Under consideration for next year, no requests to be taken at all, the date on the schedule is the date the game is to be played.

IDs - 37 ids were shot at a MASA member's house this year. Again MASA being nice. These did not include roster change ids. These were people that missed the id nights. Again, under consideration, no ids to be taken after id nights are done.

Now MASA will launch itself into, as someone said, today's technology, with a MASA website. Truth be told, it would save MASA money because the hotline could then be discontinued. However, people without access to a computer would be in a bit of a bind. The onus would be on the rep. or team manager to check the website daily for any changes and communicate any changes to his/her players.
