With the mayor leaving this month, his young, vibrant energy will be missing from a room full of old, tired councilmen. Will the city continue to step forward, or will it pause more often now in its progression to...whatever, Meriden is trying to accomplish?

Daniels is vibrant and young in spirit. A nice replacement for Benigni, actually. He's more professional, I think. Even Matty D. is a hard worker, dedicated, despite his advancing years. Even though I certainly don't agree with a lot of our city councilors, I think most people will admit they work hard. Kogut, Gordon, McGoldrick, all of them really.

You make too much of Benigni, perhaps. The Mayor's post is ceremonial, largely. The city has a lot of work mapped out with POCD, HUB, transportation center, flood control, etc... The council will be busy enough with all that work and whatever else they come up with on their own, which is usually cockamamie schemes. IE Tear down Columbus Park for a box store, start a downtown building facade program with no income limits for building owners, etc.. I almost hope they do take a good snooze.
