Tim Russert was an exemplary news person. Where will the next generation of top-quality journalists come from with media is such disarray?

I miss him too. I feel he was overworked. Anytime a company depends on one person so much, all I can think of all the hours he must have put in and how dedicated he was. We lost a GOOD AMERICAN

He was my favorite reporter of all time....he can sway a voter from one side to the other. Yes, he was overworked but that is what he loved....we bring the overwork on ourselves. He also had health problems that he never talked about to anyone. Plus when he was on the road, he did not take care of what he ate....I will truly miss his reports especially in this election year when i myself am very confused on who to vote for.....this is a crucial election for us....It will be interesting to see who NBC selects to have as a replacement....I read recently that Chris Matthews is one of the candidates but i just don't like him. They may be better off having someone like Brian Williams take his place and getting a new evening night anchor. Too bad Campbell Brown was forced to leave NBC. She would be good...

It isn't that I didn't like Tim Russert but in my opinion, he went too easy on people. Probably hung around with Imus for a bit too long.
Hope they put somebody tough and incisive in there. Matthews would be better than some wimp like Brian Williams. How's about Tom Brokaw?

Hello...

" he went too easy on people. Probably hung around with Imus for a bit too long."

Esscuse me.... Your saying that having a little of Don Imus rub off on you
makes you go easy on others ???

Perhaps now... post Rutgers " over reaction " times... but Imus was more
brutal.. than anyone else on the Airwaves.

I recall his ( Imus ) Broadcasters Dinner Roast of Bill Clintion...lol

NO... I believe that it was Russerts nature... that made him gentle... not
his association with anybody else.

No, I'm saying Russert went easy on the staus quo because he shared some of the same ideologies that Imus did. Nothing to do with Imus being "tough" on anybody. More that Imus represented the old boy network with a capital O and so did Russert in his own way. Which is why so many of the old boys are sanctifying Russert at the moment.

NBC I learned is going to stay with Tom Brokaw through the election. Then they will name a replacement...Brokaw is the right choice for now until they find someone...Russert did do his homework and you can't be too tough because people will start to avoid you

I've found it a blessing when they avoid me! But then again, fitting into mainstream never was my bag. Brokaw is a great choice, though.
