Hello

Memorial day was firat enacted to honor Union Soldiers after the American
Civil War. It was expanded after WW I to include war casualties from any
war or military action.

I was pleased to see that this same honor was extended in time to the
casualties of the Southern Confederacy.

NOT FOR FAME OR REWARD

NOT FOR PLACE OR RANK

NOT LURED BY AMBITION

OR GOADED BY NECESSITY

BUT IN SIMPLE OBEDIENCE TO DUTY

AS THEY UNDERSTOOD IT

THESE MEN SUFFERED ALL -

DARED ALL -

And when these men and women come home, the Republicans deny them benefits, housing and healthcare. Just because you put a damn yellow ribbon on your car, doesn't mean you support the soldiers.

They knew the terms of the " deal " when they enlisted.

What does (my original post ) this have to do with Republicans ?

Because many people talk a good game. They praise the troops and then support policies that only hurt the troops once they come home. Talk is cheap. How many of the people killed in war, have had their surviving family members suffer from Republicans cutting the funding of benefits for the family. So praise them all you want, but make sure that their families are taken care of if the soldier is killed in battle. All the praise and good words doesn't put food on the table.
